Plus Michelle Collins says “I’m going nowhere”
We’ll start today’s round up of Corrie news with Kym Marsh – who plays Michelle Connor – and a report in TV Biz that she’s called in police after someone set up a fake Facebook page in her daughter’s name.
Kym also revealed that the ‘troll’ had taken pictures from 14 year old Emily’s real Facebook page, and used them on the fake page.
After being altered to the page by a friend, Michelle tweeted, “Help get this weirdo off Facebook! Could be dangerous.
“They are stealing pics from her actual Facebook. I’m gonna give it to the police.”
And talking of police, Kym’s character Michelle can expect to have more than a few encounters with the law courtesy of her son Ryan when he returns to Weatherfield next week.
Played by Sol Heras, Ryan’s return to the Street is set to cause chaos as it’s revealed that he’s “heavily involved” with drugs, and not only that, he’s set to get Sophie Webster hooked too!
A Coronation Street insider told the Daily Star, “It’s a very different Ryan who returns to the cobbles following his stint at university…
“All he wants is to live it up and enjoy the summer and he doesn’t take too kindly to anyone messing up his plans.
“He’s always liked Sophie and wants to have some fun with her. Whether or not she’s up for it remains to be seen. He is going to be trouble with a capital T.”
Don’t miss Ryan’s return to Weatherfield a week on Wednesday.
Finally today, Michelle Collins, who of course plays Stella Price, has revealed that despite facing a barrage of criticism over her Manchester accent and acting skills, she has no intention of leaving the show.
Speaking to The Sun’s new TV Magazine, Michelle said, “I’m definitely not quitting.”
However, she added that it’s been a tough time for her, and especially so when she first landed the role.
She said, “It was a real shock when the press criticised my accent, because I’d ‘done northern’ before and never been criticised for it.
“I did get to the point where I said to people high up: ‘Should I just resign? I’ve had enough. I can’t do this.’
“But they said no, absolutely not. They told me to fight it and get through it. So I did.”
However, she added that since all the criticism, she’s been unable to watch herself on the show.
She said, “The enormity of the criticism made me too scared to watch Corrie on the telly. I still can’t.”
What do you think of Michelle’s performances as Stella? And are you glad she’s staying or do you want her to leave?
