Plus spoiler clip from tomorrow’s EastEnders
We’ll begin today’s soapy news round up over in Hollyoaks, where evil serial killer Silas Blissett is back to terrorise the villagers, and particularly Texas…
As fans of the show will know, last week, Lynsey Nolan was found dead by Brendan Brady, having been murdered in her own flat, and as the terrible news spreads that the cause of Lynsey’s death was strangulation, fear once again dominates the village as people wonder if Silas’s reign of terror has inspired a copycat killer.
And of course, Texas is particularly affected by Lynsey’s death, given her connection to Silas’s case, and in a probably foolish bid to get answers, we’ll see her visiting Silas at the psychiatric hospital where he’s being held.
But of course, loving the mind games he can play with her, Silas says he’ll give her answers if she hands over the ring she’s wearing which he knows belonged to India…
Reluctantly, Texas hands it to the killer, however, she’s horrified by what he then tells her, and in a panic, she tries to snatch the ring back, prompting Silas to lunge at her…
Don’t miss that drama on Tuesday, July 10 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
Over to Coronation Street now, where John Michie – who of course plays gambler and cheating boyfriend Karl Munro – has revealed that he’s surprised that some female Corrie fans see him as a sex symbol.
55 year old John, who formerly starred in Taggart, told the Sun, “I was out with some of the boys in the cast a few weeks ago, somewhere I was a little bit too old to be, and I was stunned by the reaction of younger women.
“I thought to myself, ‘I should have joined this show ages ago!’ There is a lot of female affection for Karl.
“Fans want photos and kisses on the cheeks. There was a lot of attention and we caused a bit of a stir.
“I’m a middle-aged man but all these young women came up. It was quite flattering and very surprising.”
However, he added that he thinks it’s Karl ladies fall for, and not John himself.
He said, “Karl is quite charming and he’s a bit of a lad. Hopefully people dislike what he’s done but actually, strangely like him.
“We get loads of fan mail. Because Karl has this young female following, the mail can get a bit steamy. It makes me blush, actually. I’m blushing now.
“Women seem to love him. They think they’re the one who could tame him. There is a lot of attention and affection for him from the ladies.
“People are attracted to dangerous people.”
Well Sunita certainly was when she embarked on an affair with Karl!
Finally, when asked if he has any plans to move on from Corrie, John said he hasn’t and added, “I’m loving it. As long as it carries on like this, I’m staying here. Why would you leave?
“I’ve been pretty busy for a few months, but if you’re in Corrie you might as well be in it and go for it.
“I’m happy to do as much as they throw my way, really.”
Finally today it’s over to Walford where on Monday, Jay’s going to get the blame for the fact that Lucy called the police to report Lola’s attack on the car lot.
As fans will recall, Lola flung chip oil all over the car lot’s office and onto one of the cars outside and set it up to look like Lucy Beale had done it.
And sure enough, Max and Phil thought it was Lucy, and they demanded she pay for the damage. Lucy of course insisted she hadn’t done anything, but her denials fell on deaf ears, until Jay owned up to Phil that it was in fact Lola who’d done it.
When asked why, he revealed that it was by way of revenge on Lucy for sacking Lola from her job at the chippy.
But of course, as Lola’s baby is due any time now, and because she’s been in trouble with the law before, the soon to be mum could be headed for a stint in a custodial facility, and what’ll happen to her baby if she does?
Here’s a sneak peek at Monday night’s episode when a concerned Billy frets over what’s going to happen…
