The Culture Show At The Edinburgh Festival

10:00pm Wednesday 15 August on BBC TWO

Sue Perkins presents three editions of The Culture Show from The Edinburgh Festival, featuring all the best in theatre, dance, literature, music and comedy from the Fringe, International, Art and Book Festivals.

In programme one Sue meets Mark Thomas to discuss his new show Bravo Figaro, about his tempestuous relationship with his dad. Clemency Burton-Hill looks at the International Festival’s very different take on popular stories, including Gulliver’s Travels, Alice in Wonderland and My Fair Lady. Harry Hill takes us on a tour of his art exhibition and Alastair Sooke explores the world of Catherine the Great, in a major exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland.

Later programmes include features on NVA’s large scale, mass participatory public spectacle Speed of Light, in which hundreds of runners in light suits make their way up Arthur’s Seat. Alastair Sooke’s tour of the Edinburgh Art Festival takes in an exhibition of Contemporary Tapestries by artists including David Hockney, Paul Gaugin and Sir Peter Blake.

The programme also looks at the very best in international song and dance at the International Festival and speaks to Howard Jacobson about his new book, Zoo Time.
