son-in-law (5/28)

Continuing today is the successful comedy series centring around the Hennessy family, starring the late John Ritter as family patriarch Paul and Katey Sagal as mum Cate.

When Cate goes back to work full-time, Paul stays at home to raise their teenage daughters Bridget and Kerry, and son Rory. Paul soon feels overwhelmed with the task and, drawing on his days as a sports writer, begins to write a regular column called ‘8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter’. The rules include “Bring her home late, there’s no next date” and “Only delivery men honk –dates ring the doorbell... Once!”

In today’s episode, Paul is ecstatic when Bridget’s new boyfriend not only turns out to be the high-school basketball star but also has a famous father in the form of baseball legend Steve ‘Canned Heat’ Smith (played by guest star Terry Bradshaw, a former quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL). Meanwhile, Kerry gets frustrated that Paul still thinks of her as a little girl, rather than a teenager who is ready for the dating world.
