Continuing today is this successful comedy about the Hennessy family, starring the late John Ritter (‘Three’s Company’) as family patriarch Paul, and Katey Sagal (‘Married... with Children’, ‘Futurama’) as mum Cate.
When Cate goes back to work full-time, Paul takes on the role of raising their teenage daughters, Bridget (Kaley Cuoco, ‘Charmed’) and Kerry (Amy Davidson), and son Rory (Martin Spanjers). Paul soon feels overwhelmed and, drawing on his days as a sports writer, begins to write a regular column based on the concept: 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. The rules include “Bring her home late, there’s no next date” and “Only delivery men honk. Dates ring the doorbell. Once.”
In today’s episode, Paul tells Bridget to get a job and learn how to be fiscally responsible, after seeing how much money she spends on keeping up with the latest fashions. But when she lands a job at a trendy clothing store that offers its workers a 40 per cent discount, Paul and Cate begin to worry that she may not be learning the true value of a dollar.
