It’s the football World Cup and an extremely busy time for easyJet as more than half a million people head off to Germany. Among the fans travelling from Luton are Americans Linda and Thom Emerson. Thom and Linda watched England win the World Cup in 1966 and, 40 years on, Thom says they intend to ‘party as much as 69 year olds party before a match’.
Bristol passenger Keith Taylor is in the process of checking in for his flight when he’s taken to one side by Supervisor Richard Oats. After witnessing Mr Taylor swaying in the check-in queue, Richard suspects that he may be too drunk to travel. However communicating this information to Mr Taylor proves difficult and he is less than happy with Richard’s decision.
Mr Pawlowski delivered his mother to Luton airport in good time to check in for her flight back to Krakow and headed home. However, shortly after leaving, he received a telephone call from his mother - the plane had left on time, but without her! He returns to the airport demanding an explanation!
While it’s business as usual for most easyJet staff, six members of the Luton check-in team are off to Germany for a charity football tournament. Sadly for them their hopes for a serious match are thwarted by a sudden rain storm and the tournament is cancelled. But despite the rain clouds, they’re determined to play!
The football theme continues with former Charlton Athletic manager, Alan Curbishley, boarding a plane from Stansted to Alicante to collect for easyJet’s ‘Charity of the Year 2006’ - The Anthony Nolan Trust.
