angels of jarm
it’s mine! (1/40)
Starting on Milkshake! this morning is the world’s first religious cartoon for preschoolers. Set in the fictional town of Jarm, the action takes place in a playgroup populated by young children of various different skin colours, religions and backgrounds. When the children encounter everyday problems – like fights over toys or prayers –a special angel comes down from the clouds to help, travelling via the rainbow-coloured Celestial Highway.
The Angels –Ellie, Mick and Rafe –live in a silver bullet caravan above a cloud with their leader, Gabrielle. Each Angel is of a different faith, but they all live in harmony and know exactly what to do to prevent conflict in the Jarm playgroup.
With a multi-faith focus on morality, the series covers every aspect of life, emphasizing that diversity and difference are to be welcomed. Each episode is packed with adventure, action, stories, songs and fun!
In today’s episode, Angel Ellie is sent to Jarm playgroup when Otto refuses to let the other children play with his toys. Can she persuade him to share his things? Tomorrow’s episode is ‘Hats Off’. David is upset at having to put his cowboy hat away when Aaron and Murali are allowed to wear their skullcap and turban respectively. Can Angel Rafe provide a solution?
Tuesday’s episode is ‘The Picnic’, in which the playgroup has gone into the countryside for an alfresco lunch. When greedy Jess takes all the food, the other children are left hungry –so Angel Mick is sent down to have a word.
In ‘Prayers’, on Wednesday, Mary and Fatima are arguing about the correct way to pray: each child thinks the other is doing it wrong. Angel Ellie arrives on Jarm to show them the way she prays – which proves to be even more unusual!
Thursday’s episode is ‘Super Scooter’. When his pet camel gets sick, Ephraim borrows Noel’s scooter, telling the other children that the vehicle belongs to him. As Ephraim and Noel argue, Angel Rafe is sent down to find a solution.
Rounding off the week’s episodes on Fridayis ‘Sharing’. Mary and her brother David are arguing over what to watch on TV. It is such a tricky problem it will take two angels, Mick and Ellie, to solve it –if the angels can stop arguing amongst themselves!
