Chris Moyles and Stacey Solomon have signed on host a new dating series on Sky Living.

The pair will take control of The Love Machine, which will be filmed in front of a live studio audience.

The series will revolve around couples choosing each other based solely on attraction before two of the new pairings will tackle issues such as money, sex and chemistry.

Solomon said of the series: “Each contestant will only have a brief glance of who The Love Machine picks for them, but I hope we prove that there really can be love at first sight. I’m a big romantic at heart and I can’t wait for Chris and I to play cupid each week.”

The executive producer of Strictly Come Dancing has departed the series in order to take up a role with The Voice UK.

Moira Ross, who is currently BBC’s editor of format entertainment, will head entertainment at Wall to Wall production company, who is producing The Voice UK.

Along wither duties on the new singing format, Ross will also be responsible for all of Wall to Walls entertainment output.

Mark Linsey, the controller of entertainment commissioning at the BBC, added: “I’d like to thank Moira for the amazing job she does on Strictly Come Dancing and am delighted she’ll be staying with us until the end of this series. 

“It’s great news for us that she’ll be working on our next big Saturday night entertainment show for BBC One, The Voice UK, and I know she’ll be a fabulous asset to that show and to Wall to Wall.”

For the first time in its 32-year history, Question Time will broadcast live form parliament.  

The David Dimbleby-fronted BBC series will air from Westminster for one episode next month.

Question Time’s editor, Nicolai Gentchev, told The Guardian: “I hope this magnificent venue inspires the debate among our panel and audience.”

Top Gear has won the majority of its libel case with Tesla Motors after the electric sports car manufacturer took the BBC Two show to court over them showing its Roadster model constantly running out of battery.

 

Misfits to be remade for US

Josh Swartz, the producer who brought us The OC and Gossip Girl, is developing a US version of British teen series Misfits. The creator of the original, Howard Overman, is said to be working alongside Schwartz on the script.

The Chase moving to Saturday evenings

Quiz show The Chase will move to Saturdays this autumn for its celebrity series featuring the likes of Ann Widdecombe, Eamonn Holmes, Michelle Collins, Carol Vorderman, Austin Healy and John Thompson.

Jay tips Aaron to win Big Brother

Big Brother contestant Jay Mckray has tipped Aaron Allard-Morgan to win this season of the series. He has also predicted that Harry Blake will be evicted soon.

The winner of The X Factor this season will no longer be rewarded with a deal worth £1 million.

An advance of only £150,000 will be handed out to the winner until their first album is released and £1m will only be earned if three albums are released.

This has proved difficult in the past with many winners dropped from the SYCO label after their first album has been released.

Matt Cradle, whose first album was released to mild fanfare, said in a recent interview: “I got an advance to keep me housed and fed while making my album.

“The million pound thing – that’s just for TV.”

Meanwhile, the winner of The X Factor USA is set to walk away with $5m.

Sir Tom Jones is said to be in talks to appear on The Voice UK.

The legendary singer is reportedly in advanced talks with the BBC One show’s producers to joins a s coach alongside the already confirmed Jessie J.

The Sun quotes a source in saying:  ”Tom is close to committing. He has almost 50 years’ experience in music, so he’ll be able to give contestants decent advice.”

The three remaining coach spots will be named in the coming weeks.

The creator of Gossip Girl and The OC is set to remake Misfits for American audiences.

Josh Schwartz’s Fake Empire production company has secured the rights to the E4 series and will begin developing the remake alongside UK Misfits creator Howard Overman.

Overman will serve as executive producer on the US series as well as aiding Schwartz in the writing.

The third season of the UK series is set to premiere on October 30.

Glee actor returning

Glee actor Chord Overstreet will return to the series on a recurring basis after the eighth episode of the third season. Overstreet was previously offered a recurring role but turned it down to pursue a music career.

Rock X Factor theme

A last minute change has seen the theme for this weekend’s edition of The X Factor become ‘rock’. The original theme was said to be ‘heroes’ but producers chose to change it during the week.

Sirens cancelled by Channel 4

Channel 4 has cancelled comedy series Sirens after only one season. “To all of those people asking about Sirens, sadly Channel 4 have not commissioned series two,” star Rhys Thomas wrote on Twitter. “So that’s your lot I’m afraid.”

The Risk has replaced Janet Devlin as the bookies favourite to win The X Factor this year.

William Hill has installed The Risk as the 9/4 favourites to take out the show with Devlin not far behind with odds of 5/2.

Following the elimination of Nu Vibe, it appears The Risk has  stronger fan base in the category while also proving popular with the judges.

While the bookies correctly picked Nu Vibe’s elimination last weekend, they were surprised to see Frankie Cocozza joining them in the bottom two.

“Maybe Frankie is not as popular as we all thought he would be and we have allowed our odds of him winning the show to drift accordingly,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Channel 4 has cancelled Sirens after only one season.

The Rhys Thomas-starring series, which focussed on the lives of three paramedics, will not return for a second run.

Thomas confirmed the news via his Twitter page: “To all of those people asking about Sirens, sadly Channel 4 have not commissioned series two. So that’s your lot I’m afraid.

“It’s not always a bad thing. There was only one Singing Detective and oneBoys From The Blackstuff. At least it never got a chance to go downhill.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson told Broadcast: “Sirens was commissioned as part of an exciting new crop of dramas for C4 in 2011. We were delighted with the finished show and the fact it consistently engaged with a loyal 16-34 audience but there are currently no plans for a second run.”
