The residents of Smallville are thrilled when a movie based on a comic book begins shooting in town. However, after the lead actress, Rachel Davenport (Christina Milian), drives off in a stunt car with cut brakes, Clark must step in to stop the runaway vehicle. Unfortunately, an obsessed fan witnesses this heroic act and decides that since Clark is a real-life superhero, his girlfriend, Lana, must be eliminated so Clark can fulfill his destiny. Meanwhile, Lex discovers Lionel at a remote cabin.

Monday 16 June

The quirky US reality show continues its new run. Beauty and the Geek is the dating show that challenges the Beauties to find confidence outside their attractiveness, and the Geeks to find confidence outside their intellects. In the backyard, the Beauties and Geeks mix, mingle, eat, drink and get to know each other better. Everyone then piles into the hot tub and eventually they try to figure out sleeping arrangements, the math of which proves too much for Holly. Shay, Katie and Amanda invite Joshua to share their cabana (much to his surprise) and as everyone settles in for the night, Jesse admits this is easily the best night of his life.

Haley tries to make Nathan understand what is going to happen if he doesn’t change his ways. Lucas and Skills prepare Jamie to compete in a race-car competition. Meanwhile, Brooke faces problems at her company and Peyton meets Lucas’ new girlfriend.

Nora discovers that Isaac is not the man she had hoped he was, and Graham helps Sarah gain some closure. Meanwhile, Robert and Jason have a long overdue confrontation and Rebecca gets a new hobby.

(1997) Michael Jackson’s disaster movie is set in Los Angeles, where, to use the movie’s tagline, “The coast is toast”. Taking charge of the disaster is Mike Roark (Tommy Lee Jones).

Friday 13 June

The hit topical comedy panel show returns for an irreverent, irrelevant and revealing new run of shows. Jimmy Carr hosts proceedings as team captains Sean Lock and Jason Manford battle it out to discover who knows what is going on in Britain today. And there are fresh twists to the format to keep the panellists on their toes. On what other show could you learn how many Scottish men have false teeth, what most Brits want played at their funeral, and who wishes Tom Cruise was their best friend?

Lady of the manor Deborah stuns her guests with her 24-bedroom home. Sarah’s usual poise goes to pot when she has a dinner party disaster, while she has a secret confession to make over the meal. And Darren, the only male contender, has a secret admirer, but will she score him extra points?

This week, the first potatoes and radishes are ripe to be pulled out of the earth and broad beans de-podded for the most luxurious beans on toast going. The Bristol experiment, to turn an acre of derelict city land into a smallholding, continues as vegan Jess picks up a batch of hens from a nearby battery egg farm. Back at River Cottage, Hugh’s invested in a new hatchery for his duck eggs and is amazed to find the ducklings arriving days early. And he organises a foraging competition pitting a kayak team against a shoreline team: whatever they find is what they’ll feast on in the evening.

Sam always had it easy in life. He skipped college, took a dead-end job and now spends the rest of his time hanging out, playing video games, and pining for his colleague Andi. But on turning 21, Sam receives an offer he can’t refuse: he is required to work for Satan as his personal bounty hunter, tracking down souls that have escaped from Hell – or his mum gets it. Helping Sam with his dirty job are his fellow slacker friends and colleagues. This pilot episode of Reaper is directed by the cult movie director Kevin Smith ( Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma ).

Monday 9 June

The second film in the Victorian Passions season follows actor Rupert Everett as he takes a revealing and witty journey retracing the steps of one of his great heroes: the infamous Victorian explorer and sexual adventurer Sir Richard Burton. Both writers, sexual explorers and masters of disguise, Everett discovers that he and Burton share much in common. From Bombay’s brothels to the dancing girls of Egypt, Everett embarks on a voyage of discovery into the exotic worlds that his hero explored. Everett evokes the life a man who was decades ahead of his time and a pioneer of ours.
