Following the success of his award-winning documentaries on Gangs, Afghanistan, the Middle East and the Amazon, in ROSS KEMP EXTREME WORLD, Ross shows how international organised crime, terrorists and local criminal networks have created alliances that are destroying the lives of millions around the world.

Over five powerful episodes, Ross and his BAFTA® award-winning team travel to Mexico, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan and Chicago to track down, meet and challenge criminals who are responsible for spreading death and mayhem through drug dealing, terrorism, murder and rape. Plus, in a UK-based episode, Ross reveals the grim truth about people trafficking in Britain.

ROSS KEMP comments: “I can honestly say that this has been one of the most intense filming experiences of my life. I thought after my time on the front line in Afghanistan, and coming into contact with some of the most dangerous gangs around the world, I would have been prepared for what I’ve seen and heard so far in Mexico and the Democratic Republic of Congo, but I was wrong. With EXTREME WORLD we are aiming to show viewers, for the first time, an unflinching look at daily life for millions of people who are suffering at the hands of some of the most dangerous people on earth.”

Celia Taylor, Head of Factual and Features, Sky1HD, Sky1, Sky2, Sky3 commented: “EXTREME WORLD is set to be one of the most powerful series Sky1 HD has commissioned to date, and with Ross’ hands-on and brave approach to reporting, I know viewers will be absorbed and shocked by what he uncovers.”

Clive Tulloh, Executive Producer, Tiger Aspect commented: “EXTREME WORLD is one of the most exciting and challenging projects Ross has undertaken.  Once again we see him explore places and meet people that for most of us only exist in news bulletins.  Ross makes everything he encounters real and crucially alive for viewers, and he is always willing to take a risk in the name of delivering something fresh and relevant, making him invaluable to work with.”

ROSS KEMP EXTREME WORLD is a Tiger Aspect/Mongoose production for Sky1 HD and Sky1 and will air in October 2010. The series producer is David Herman and the directors are Ewen Thomson, Dominic Ozanne and Southan Morris. Celia Taylor will Executive Produce for Sky1 HD and Sky1, Clive Tulloh for Tiger Aspect and Ross Kemp for Mongoose.

Reaching a total audience of over nine million viewers, Sky1 HD’s PINEAPPLE DANCE STUDIOS had everyone from Kylie Minogue to Chris Moyles; Simon Cowell to Kate Moss talking, quickly establishing itself as the cult television hit of the year.

Sky1 HD have signed up the man at the centre of it all, dance expert Louie Spence, for a multi-channel exclusive deal, which promises to have Louie bring even more wildly camp antics to the channel.

Celia Taylor, Head of Factual, Sky1 HD, said: “Louie Spence is a phenomenon. He’s warm, talented, honest and is a brilliant laugh. He’s just the type of person we want to be working with.

PINEAPPLE DANCE STUDIOS was a very big success for us, in no small part due to Mr Spence, his bendy legs and his ability to send up anyone who takes themselves too seriously. We’re really thrilled Louie is making Sky 1 HD his home.”

PINEAPPLE DANCE STUDIOS started in February 2010 and earned Artistic Director Louie Spence a recurring guest spot on Harry Hill’s TV Burp, countless tabloid and magazine inches, a spot on Jonathan Ross’s sofa and even an appearance on This Week.

The series’ cumulative audience totalled over a million each week, reaching nine million viewers in all, making it one of Sky1 HD’s biggest hits. It also established a new breed of documentary making, mixing reality and fiction with the blend of every day goings on and heavily choreographed ‘break out’ dance routines.

Sky1 HD will be announcing details of Louie’s forthcoming projects shortly.

Sky 1 HD today announced a stellar line up for its new series Must Be The Music. The judging panel will include the current golden boy of the British music scene Dizzee Rascal, multiple award-winning singer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist Jamie Cullum and chart topping singer/songwriter Sharleen Spiteri.

The judges and host will be attending auditions in London, Manchester and Edinburgh over June and July in the search for the UK’s best music act – any age, any song, any style. With such wide-ranging musical backgrounds, the panel are perfectly placed as judges for Must Be The Music, which is open to any type of musical talent, be they a gospel choir, an indie rock band, a rapper or a soprano singer.

Dizzee Rascal, scored his fourth UK Number 1 last weekend with “Dirtee Disco”, following up his previous Number 1 singles “Dance Wiv Me”, “Bonkers” and “Holiday”. The man who won Best British Male at this year’s Brits is now helping to look for Britain’s best music. Having won the prestigious Mercury Music Prize as a breakthrough act, he’s now transcended urban and pop music with hit collaborations with everyone from Calvin Harris to Florence + The Machine on “You’ve Got The Dirtee Love”. So Dizzee is no stranger to working with artists across different types of music and spotting new talent.

Jamie Cullum is also at the top of his game. He is the UK’s biggest-selling jazz artist of all time and the singer-songwriter’s albums “Twentysomething”, “Pointless Nostalgic” and “Catching Tales” have sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

As a Brit and Grammy nominated artist, he has taken jazz into the mainstream and his new album “The Pursuit” has seen Jamie embark on a sold out world tour, from which he will be flying into the UK to record ’Must Be The Music’. Jamie’s success is truly global, taking him from Seoul to Sao Paolo, Melbourne to Memphis and across the USA where he has achieved huge success collaborating with Clint Eastwood on the Golden Globe nominated score for Gran Torino. Jamie also finds time to host his own weekly show on BBC Radio 2.

Sharleen Spiteri is a multi-award winning artist with a coveted Ivor Novello under her belt and is best known for being the lead singer of Scottish rock/blues band Texas, however has also achieved success more recently as a solo artist, with her albums “Melody” and the recently released “The Movie Songbook”.  Having sold over 12 million albums worldwide and recognised as one of the UK’S most credible singer/songwriters, Sharleen is in prime position to join the other two judges on Must Be The Music in the search to find the best musical talent the UK has to offer.

The series, open to all musicians and singers no matter what type of music they play, is set to air in early August 2010 on Sky 1 HD and its unique new format hands back control to the artists themselves, empowered by creative support, promotional advice and a cash fund of £100,000 to kick start their career. The final will be held live at one of the UK’s biggest and most famous music venues, where the finalists will perform on the same stage as the show’s prestigious judges.

Jamie Cullum commented:

“I’m honestly so pleased to be involved in a competition that gives all musicians out there the opportunity to be heard. I know that some people may feel that their unique approach to music doesn’t normally have a voice, but they are exactly who we are looking for – genuine talent in whatever form it takes.”

Dizzee Rascal stated:

“I know how hard it is to break into the music industry and am giving all you fellow musicians out there a chance to come and show me, the other judges and the rest of the UK that we really do have some of the best musicians in the world right under our noses, who deserve a break. I’m here to give you that break.”

Sharleen Spiteri stated:

“It’s going to be a great opportunity for musicians out there to come and perform in front three judges who have such diverse musical styles, that no matter what style of music they perform it will surely pique the interest of at least one of us. Regardless of our differing music genres, ultimately we all have the same goal and that’s to encourage unsigned and undiscovered talent to perform to the best of their abilities and give them the opportunity to succeed in something they are truly passionate about.”

Must Be The Music will launch this summer on Sky1 HD and Sky1. For further information, go to www.sky.com/music.

Duncan Gray, Head of Entertainment, Sky1 HD and Sky1, 2 and 3, commented:

“Dizzee, Jamie and Sharleen are a superstar trio of judges who will help real musical talent get real rewards.”

Henrietta Conrad, Executive Producer Princess Productions added:

“We’ve appealed for people with a passion for music to attend the auditions, and by adding these incredible artists into the mix, we now have the perfect combination. Dizzee Rascal, Sharleen Spiteri and Jamie Cullum are passionate, credible and brilliantly talented and we hope this will ensure that Must Be The Music really will be the show to watch this summer.”

In January 2010, Sky1 HD’s spectacular new dance contest GOT TO DANCE shimmied onto the channel to much fanfare. Edinburgh, Manchester and London played host to auditions where competitors took to the stage in front of an expert, contemporary dance panel consisting of Diversity lead choreographer Ashley Banjo, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, and Coyote Ugly and West End star Adam Garcia.

Host Davina McCall was on hand to congratulate or comfort those who managed or failed to make the grade. Now they’re all back for a second series that promises to be bigger, bolder and better than ever before. This time the stakes are higher as the acts compete for the biggest ever talent show prize of £250,000 in front of an even bigger studio audience of 1,200 people.

Davina McCall said, “I’m not sure if it’s legal to enjoy my job so much but GOT TO DANCE is my dream show! It just HAD to come back, I’m so glad it has!”

Duncan Gray, Head of Entertainment, Sky1 HD, has commissioned Shine TV and Princess Productions to co-produce the second series of the hugely successful competition. We want anyone and everyone to come and audition, whether your 4 or 84. Returning judges Ashley Banjo, Kimberly Wyatt and Adam Garcia will select the best dancers to take part in the spectacular live studio finals, where they will battle it out to win a place in the final and be crowned series champions by the viewing public. This time there will be eight audition shows, and five live shows.

Gray commented: “Sky1 HD is very proud to announce plans to make GOT TO DANCE an even more spectacular must see fixture in the TV calendar. We’re very lucky to be working with such supreme world-class talent on screen and back-stage and everyone can’t wait to see the next generation of dancing talent explode onto the channel in 2011.”

In its first series, GOT TO DANCE crowned 10-year-old street dancer Akai from Kent as its champion. Since winning his £100,000 prize money, Akai has joined the cast of Into the Hoods, London’s street dance musical. Following the grand final, US network CBS announced they had picked up the rights to GOT TO DANCE in order to create a US version of the series.

Production on GOT TO DANCE is scheduled to begin imminently with auditions scheduled for July and August 2010. The series will air in early 2011.

GOT TO DANCE Series Two was commissioned by Duncan Gray, Head of Entertainment, Sky1 HD, who will act as Executive Producer alongside Karen Smith for Shine TV and Henrietta Conrad, Kelly Webb-Lamb, Marion Farrelly and Clodagh O’Donoghue for Princess Productions.
