Maggie Grace, formerly known as Shannon Rutherford on Lost, is set to star in the action movie Taken with Liam Neeson. Grace will be playing a character who is kidnapped and forced into slavery. Neeson’s character, a former spy, is charged with saving her. French writer-director Luc Besson (The Transporter) is both writing and producing the film, and French cinematographer Pierre Morel will direct.

Grace lately appeared in a poorly-received remake of The Fog, and will star in two upcoming films: Suburban Girl, with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alec Baldwin; and The Jane Austen Book Club, with Emily Blunt and Maria Bello. Several other Lost cast members have parlayed the television drama’s success into film careers. Matthew Fox recently starred in We Are Marshall and Smokin’ Aces, and Ian Somerhalder was seen in the 2006 horror movie Pulse.

Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter is poised to join her comrades in another galaxy as Stargate SG-1 winds down its last 10 episodes and Stargate Atlantis revs up for another season. Atlantis is due to begin production in Vancouver in the next month, introducing a powerful new race of aliens, bringing new cast onto the set, and mourning the loss of important members of the crew.

Actress Amanda Tapping was on Stargate SG-1 for 10 seasons and is now going to be the hottest astrophysicist in the new series as well, bringing her character’s scientific expertise and military background into a demanding new role with the crew of Stargate Atlantis.

“Atlantis” fans can also look forward to the return of Jewel Staite (“Firefly,” Serenity). She will appear in eight episodes, reprising her role as Dr. Keller, a physician who joins the “Atlantis” expedition. Staite previously appeared on the series as Ellia, the Wraith child who was transformed into a human in the season 2 episode, “Instinct.”

ABC has announced details about the upcoming season of “Desperate Housewives.” The first episode is entitled “My Husband the Pig” and will be narrated from a male perspective by Bree’s deceased husband Rex Van De Kamp.

This episode will be newsworthy because it shows the first appearance of Edie Britt’s son Travers who was first mentioned way back in season one, when late Mrs. Huber took care of him off-screen while his mother was “entertaining” her male visitor the night Susan accidentally burned down her house.

Travers is played by the 11-year old actor Jake Cherry (not related to series creator Marc Cherry), and the little guy is a TV pro with appearances on “Third Watch”, “Head Cases” and “Bones”.
