BBC Look East - Janine Machin Joins

A new face joinsBBC Look East this week (Monday 21 May) to present and report on the latest news for the west of the BBC Look East region.

Janine Machin, who will be based at Look East's Cambridge studio, first joined the BBC seven years ago after graduating from Oxford University.

She started her career at BBC Radio Stoke, where after working on the station's lunchtime programme answering phones. Her talent was quickly spotted and she was given her own afternoon show. From there she went on to co-present the station's Breakfast Show.

Two years ago she became the solo presenter of the Breakfast Show, helping it to become one of the most popular, lively and listened to breakfast shows in Radio Stoke's 40 years of broadcasting.

Janine Machin says: "I'm really looking forward to the new challenge of working for BBC Look East."

Lisa Reynolds, Television Editor at BBC Cambridge says: "I'm delighted that Janine is joining Look East as our new reporter/presenter in Cambridge. Janine has been presenting the Breakfast show on BBC Radio stoke since 2003, and was involved in the local TV pilot in Staffordshire. She is bubbling with ideas and enthusiasm and will be a great addition to our team."
