Emmerdale heartthrob Kelvin Fletcher has been at the centre of dramatic storylines in Emmerdale and is continuing to excite audiences as he becomes the latest celebrity to compete in Beat The Star.

This week’s show will see Kelvin go head to head with IT consultant Mick Mason from Longfield, Kent in a range of challenges which aim to push the players to their limits. Seven different games made up of physical and mental challenges right through to the downright quirky and daring will see this weeks contestants face to face in a basketball showdown, taking their driving skills to the max in a go-karting challenge and getting hands on by guessing the plastic farm animals while blindfolded.

Rugby legend Martin Offiah has proved he is a force to be reckon with on the pitch, but does this rugby league star have what it takes to see off this week’s challenger 27-year-old Pete Russell, a PE teacher from Poole?

‘Chariots’ is known for his tremendous running speed and is a lethal finisher on the field scoring over 500 tries during his illustrious career. This time the 42-year-old will be playing for his pride and his reputation. Martin will go head to head with our challenger Pete over seven different games made up of physical and mental challenges right through to the downright quirky and daring. This week the contestants will be scaling a 100 feet high wall, playing being lumberjacks when they race against each other to saw through a log and turning their hand to archery.

Olympic swimmer Mark Foster has caused ripples recently by retiring from competitive swimming then making a fantastic comeback only to be selected for the Beijing 2008 games.

Before he heads off to represent his country Mark will be defending his reputation in this week’s Beat The Star. Mark will go head to head with investment banker Brenton Amedee over seven different games made up of physical and mental challenges right through to the downright quirky and daring. This week the contestants will be driving each other mad playing football with a car, seeing if they stomach each other in a huge flip over swing challenge and putting their grey matter to test in a general knowledge quiz against the clock.

Fresh on the heels of boxer Amir Khan, this week it’s the turn of cricketing legend Darren Gough to take up the challenge.

The “Dazzler” will go head to head against Chris Rainford, a firefighter from Chorley, over seven different games made up of physical and mental challenges right through to the downright quirky and daring. This week the contestants driving, climbing, and salami-slicing skills will all be put to the test.

Passionate about sport and fitness, Chris has been a firefighter for 22 years and was voted Fire Service Sports Personality Of The Year. Darren is England's all-time highest wicket-taker in one-day internationals and is welcoming the challenge of Beat The Star.

With £100,000 at stake for Chris and the pride and reputation on the line for Darren there is everything to play for.

Fresh from the ring and his 17th straight victory, boxing legend Amir Khan is about to take up a brand new challenge in the first of ITV1’s brand new prime time show Beat The Star.

Amir is reverred for his agilty, speed and power, but will this be enough as this time his opponent will be a formidable member of the public and the tasks at hand are far from a boxing ring bout.

The pair will go head to head over seven different games made up of physical and mental challenges right through to the downright quirky and daring. With £50,000 at stake for ‘the challenger’ and the pride and reputation on the line for ‘the star’ there is everything to play for.

Host Vernon Kay will be on hand to explain each round and encourage both contestants throughout the rounds. Each of the challenges will be a complete surprise to the players giving them only seconds to prepare.
