Aspiring novelists will now get their own chance to strut across the reality TV airwaves in a new reailty show hosted in the UK by Tony Cowell, the older brother of Big Brother's Simon Cowell. The wannabe writers will pitch their manuscripts to a panel of authors including Jeffrey Archer and Jackie Collins and learn the tricks of the trade at getting their first book published. Contestants must have their manuscript already completed and it must be their first book to be published. Prizes include publishing deals on both sides of the Atlantic in the ever-important American and British markets.

As directed my Mr Cowell I contacted PROSECT and they said they add nothing to do with the show anymore. So keen to enter I figured ITV were accepting the entries and I rang them and they said the show was now NOT commissioned for 2008. This is sad. I wanted to give it a go.
Can anyone confirm if my info is incorrect.
ITV said the show will not air in 2008 something about funding

Thank you all for your comments regarding whether or not Bestseller will go to air on ITV. Let me put you in the picture. Bestseller HAS been commissioned by ITV and will go to air spring 2008 for the 1st series of six shows. We had to postpone the series this year as our sponsors (Borders Books') US parent pulled the plug on their UK stores and were not able to sponsor the show.

As a result CowellMedia will produce the show in partnership with Prospect Pictures for ITV and the programme will go into pre-production in November. Those of you who are not scared of entering the show please do not hesistate to get in touch with me and I will let you know how to apply. In the meantime, isnt it interesting howb the negative people who 'put down' the show always remain anonymous - oops!
Kind regards - and thank you for your support

I have heard that the show has now been commissioned by ITV and is due on air in March 2008. Nobody is confirming which authors are on the panel but anyone championing the cause of new writing surely must be applauded?

My sources say the show will not be on air this year, there has been no sponsorship deal done and this whole July air date thing is not happening. It has not infact been commissioned. ITV say they aslo know nothing about Archer or Collins involvement. Am I the only wanabe author who's confused here
