Dennis reads out a message from Big Brother about the shopping task. If they complete the task then they will get £5 each as opposed to if they fail, it will be £1 per person per day.
the task is similar to the board game operation. There is a wire set up in the yard which Rachel and Dennis need to navigate with a wire loop without touching the sides. If they do, they other housemates will receive a mild electric shock and they'll have to start again. They have 2 hours to complete the task.
After 8 attempts, Stephanie is in the diary room complaining about the pain. She is terrified it is going to happen at any second. It's a little sadistic and people are really starting to suffer with tears and gritted teeth.
The other housemates are finding it pretty tough and they're all starting to talk about being happy to have a small budget. After the next shock, they call them in to discuss the task and vote on whether they should continue. They decide they want the food. Rex wants them to weigh up the pain over the pleasure but Alex isn't having it. She is taking off her suit and thinks the task is inhumane. She says a strong women whose been through child birth, had tattoos and generally is strong but just can't take it any more. She says she wont take pain for food. She'll eat pasta she thinks.
Alexandra and Sylvia have taken their suits off and have incurred two fails. Kathreya is in the diary room in tears complaining about the pain.
Alexandra is venting with Sylvia to each other.
There are a growing number of housemates coming out to watch the task and offer words of advice. Rex wants a cigarette but Alexandra has the lighter and wont give it to him.
There is 5 minutes left and they're on their 15th attemp. They're three quarters of the way through and the nerves are evident. They hit the wire though and it's over. They fail the task and are all going to be on a basic budget for the entire week. All that pain and no gain.
Rachel and Dennis tried their best but are feeling bad for not completing the task for the house.
Mohamed talks to Sylvia about how she quit. Mohamed told her that Kathreya still did it.
Alexandra comforts Dennis who is upset about the task. Stephanie comes out to join them and also tells him that he did his best and that no one is disappointed with him.
Rex comes out and picks up Alex's lighter and she grabs it back and tells him he can't have it as he's rude and didn't ask. She calls him a loser. Again.
£16 a day is not a lot for 16 people to live off. And they have to buy tokens for £1 as well.
Alexandra is back in the diary room complaining about Rex and how he is violating her stuff. She is crying about her possessions and people taking them. She says that she has earned everything she has and doesn't think it is right for anyone to swan around and just take whatever they want, especially without asking.
Alexandra calmly talks to Rex and states her position.
Dale is in the diary room complaining about Steph and Rex and is apologising for losing his temper.
Alexandra is talking to Mario and Lisa about Stephanie. She thinks Stephanie is playing the game and is looking for a chance to play where ever she can. Mario brings up their disagreement on the day of the wedding. He's wondering why she isn't making the effort trying to glam up a bit and play on her beauty.
Rex thought the task was brilliant but just a little bit too hard. He thinks there are people in the house who talk the talk but can't walk the walk. He thought Alex would have been the last one to quit but she was the first. He was passionate about winning the food budget but that obviously came across differently.
Kathreya is in the diary room looking much happier. She was glad that they stuck together in the task - predominantly.
Rex and Stephanie are talking about Mario and Lisa. Rex thinks that they're sure Luke is safe and so they'll be gunning for her because if she doesn't go, it will be one of them.
