In association with The Sun and sponsored by Walkers, this star studded event will honour those that have achieved the highest level of international acclaim in their chosen fields over the past twelve months. Britain’s Best 2008 will allow the nation to take stock and feel proud of what the country has achieved internationally and also celebrate the richness and diversity of modern Britain. Those who attended last year’s event and were honoured included: Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ranulph Fiennes and David Beckham.
There are seven award categories on the night. During the ceremony one individual in each category will be honoured at this prestigious event. The categories include: The Arts, Television, Campaigner, Sport, Business, Music, and Film.

In this special edition of Tonight, celebrity chef Jean Christophe Novelli goes behind the scenes of the hospitality industry to investigate just how pressurised some chefs are finding their kitchens.
New research shows that head chefs run twice the risk of suffering serious depression or anxiety as those in lower stress occupations. Drug and alcohol abuse are also reportedly widespread in the catering industry. But how do the strains that chefs experience measure up to other stressful jobs?

Liz (Beverly Callard) is not happy with Steve (Simon Gregson) for interfering in her business but he's not fooled when she protests her innocence. However she is keen to prove that she's not cheating on Vernon (Ian Reddington) and even heads off to have one of her wedding photos enlarged. Later she tells Harry (Jack Ellis) that she wants to cool things off a bit. With Clarissa (Alexandra Boyd) starting to cause him more problems, Harry agrees.
Ashley (Steven Arnold) and Kevin (Michael Le Vell) despair over the behaviour of their wives as the bickering over the house swap continues. Both men agree to keep the women apart to try and get things moving. But despite their best efforts it looks as though neither Sally (Sally Whittaker) or Claire (Julia Haworth) will back down.

Liz (Beverly Callard) is full of the joys of spring and Harry (Jack Ellis) is also in a good mood but he insists to Dan (Matthew Crompton) that he and Liz are just mates. Dan is sceptical especially when he discovers that Liz is going round to the flat again later. Over a game of darts in the Rovers he 'lets slip' to Steve (Simon Gregson) that Harry and Liz had dinner last night and are getting cosy in the flat. Outraged, Steve heads round to the flat to have it out with Liz - what will he find?
The builders have begun work on removing the cladding and Tyrone (Alan Halsall) mourns its passing but Jack (WIlliam Tarmey) and Molly (Vicky Binns) are happy to see the back of it. However things don’t go quite to plan and it looks as though Tyrone might get his way after all!

Deciding to visit Perdy (Georgia Slowe), Katie launches a tirade against the two of them and warns Perdy she will never play a part in her child's life. Perdy breaks down and blames everything on Gray, warning her that he only cares for the child. Confronting Gray later, Katie explains that she's decided to allow Perdy access to the baby. With Gray satisfied, Katie later reveals to Chas her true intentions. Is Katie about to break the hearts of Gray and Perdy?

DI Neil Manson (Andrew Lancel) returns from his sabbatical and quickly makes it clear to his team that he is determined to get them back on track. His grumpiness is seen as a challenge to DC Stevie Moss (Lucy Speed), who is paired up with him to work on a case involving Mark Griffin (Nick Court), who has gone missing on his wedding day after an apparent burglary.
As the case progresses, Neil and Stevie begin to think that Mark may have been cheating on his fiancée, Jenna Murray (Nicky Ladanowski), with her best friend and bridesmaid, Kelly Harper (Joanna Bobin). Jenna soon reaches the same conclusion and makes best man, Adam Sharkey (Jack Pierce) drive her to Sun Hill. Fuelled by anger, Jenna sees Kelly leaving the station after being interviewed and Neil gets caught in the crossfire when she throws a punch.

Gray (Christopher Villiers) visits Perdy (Georgia Slowe) and she agrees to drop the custody petition in return for a part in the baby's life. On his return to the village, Gray broaches the subject with Katie (Sammy Winward) but she is adamant that Perdy will not be allowed access. Worried about Gray's silence, Perdy decides to visit the village herself and check on his progress. Gray discovers his wife's intentions and rushes round to stop her, leaving Katie in the lurch. Katie follows Gray to give him his briefcase, believing he has gone to see a client. However, she turns up at Perdy's apartment and is stunned to find Gray giving Perdy a goodbye kiss. What will Katie do about Gray's lies?

Steve Rider introduces live coverage of the game of all games - the 2008 UEFA Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea from the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
It’s the first ever all-English European Cup final. Of course Manchester United have won the trophy twice before – in 1968 under Sir Matt Busby and in 1999 under Sir Alex Ferguson. However this is Chelsea’s first ever European Cup final. Could they become the first club from London to win the trophy?

Viv (Deena Payne) and Bob (Tony Audenshaw) lose custom and finance at the shop as the police invetsigation continues. Their private investigator arrives for an update and after he releases details of a key witness, Viv is keen to pay a visit. In spite of Bob's objections, Viv sneaks out of the café and interrogates the witness herself. The witness is adamant she has seen Viv at Freddie's house and orders her to leave. Back in the village, Bob realises Viv has lied to him and tracks her down at the house. With the witness' positive I.D of Viv swimming in his mind, Bob begins to doubt his wife. Is Viv truly the guilty party?

Harry (Jack Ellis) tries to persude Dan (Matthew Crompton) that he and Liz (Beverly Callard) are 100% platonic but Dan is less than convinced. Meanwhile, Liz lies to Steve and tells him that she needs him to cover for her as Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) needs her help. Dressed to the nines Liz arrives at Deirdre's to ensure she'll be her alibi before heading off to meet Harry. However, she panics that she's overdone the outfit and changes before going to Harry's flat. He puts her at her ease but it is evident that he fancies her. Sorely tempted, Liz manages to tear herself away but it is clear she is smitten.
Sally (Sally Whittaker) is delighted when the survey for the Peacocks' house shows subsidence in the conservatory. Armed with this information she tells Claire (Julia Haworth) that the deal is off unless she lowers the price. Claire is gutted - will she agree to lower the price?

It's all go at the Websters' as Sally (Sally Whittaker) excitedly plans the decor for their new home. Kevin (Michael Le Vell) urges caution and reminds her that the house is not theirs yet. Meanwhile it seems as though Kevin could have a point as Claire (Julia Haworth) tells Ashley (Steven Arnold) she thinks their house has been undervalued and she announces she is going to ask the Websters for more money. How will Sally react to this development?
Over at Molly (Vicky Binns) and Tyrone's (Alan Halsall), home improvements are also the topic of the day. Molly wants to remove the infamous stone cladding but Tyrone is worried that Jack (Bill Tarmey) might be upset. Molly decides the best thing to do is ask him first how he feels about it.
