Tonight’s TV Highlights

It’s here, it’s here, it’s finally here!

Or at least, it will be in a few hours…

Yes sports fans, Celebrity Big Brother is back tonight on Channel 5 with a two-hour long launch show that airs as of 9pm, and as ever, there are twists and rule changes that are set to leave the 12 new housemates reeling!

And we can reveal that the very first twist begins tonight, when six of the housemates will start their CBB experience by moving into a purpose built Basement, which, as they’ll discover, is hellish…

With dirty mattresses to sleep on and only the most basic of rations, the unlucky six will no doubt be very envious of their peers who’ll get to enjoy all the luxuries of the ice hotel themed house.

Those luxuries include furs – faux one assumes – everywhere as well as a heated pool, a snug igloo and comfy beds… Continue reading »

Tonight’s episode of Emmerdale is of course the long awaited live broadcast, which will air for an hour as of 7pm…

And ahead of it, several cast members have of course spoken of their nerves about things going wrong – and the production crew are dreading what the weather might throw at them – and this morning, Chris Bisson – who plays expectant dad Jai Sharma – has hinted about the identity of the character that’s set to die tonight.

Speaking to Key 103 this morning, he said, “I’m not sure you’ll be shocked, but that person is a much-loved character.

“I suppose some of the audience might not like him, but he is a much-loved character.”

So it’s definitely a male character then!

Of how he’s coping with the nerves today, Chris said, “Do you know what, I wasn’t really nervous until I woke up this morning, but then it sinks in! Continue reading »

Fans of Emmerdale will know that Chas Dingle is a desperate woman right now…

She is of course being blackmailed by Carl King to the tune of £30k, and so far, with Cameron’s help, she’s only managed to raise £15,000.

It should have been a lot more, but when Chas persuaded Cameron to stage a phony break in at the pub – to steal £13,000 of the pub’s takings – her fiancé Dan thwarted the plan by hiding the wads of cash, assuming they’d been left in plain view as an oversight.

However, Cain – who is of course Chas’s brother and Debbie’s dad – smells a rat and, after confronting Chas about the robbery, tells her that he believes Cameron carried out the burglary…

So, desperate to stop Cain from stirring up yet more trouble which could end up with Debbie learning that her aunt and boyfriend had an affair, Chas tells Cain that she staged the break in… Continue reading »

And why those who covered up Savile’s alleged abuse should be tried for aiding and abetting a paedophile

As you’re probably aware, ITV1 is airing a documentary tonight that examines claims that the late Sir Jimmy Savile was “a predatory paedophile” who used his fame, money and influence as a cover for the abuse of vulnerable young girls.

In Exposure: The Other Side of Jimmy Savile, we’ll see the culmination of former detective Mark Williams-Thomas’s investigation into allegations made against Savile by at least five – some tabloids report that number is now ten – women who say Savile abused them when they were teenagers.

And since some of the details that we’ll see in the film were made public, allegations of a cover-up at the BBC have been leveled at the corporation, which its executives strenuously deny.

However, earlier this week DJ Paul Gambaccini – who worked with Savile on several occasions – said during an interview on Daybreak that Savile’s alleged abuse of children was something of an open secret… Continue reading »

Plus see spoilers and clip from this weekend’s shows

As you’re probably aware, in this weekend’s X Factor shows – which air both tonight and tomorrow night – we’re off to Judges’ Houses as each judge has to whittle down their acts to just three who will go forward to the live shows.

However, as The X Factor bosses announced last week, each judge has chosen one act each to return to the show out of those they previously sent home…

These ‘Wildcards’ will be revealed tonight – they are apparently currently in hiding at the Corinthia Hotel in London alongside the acts who made it through to the live shows – and their identities are being kept a closely guarded secret.

However, as soon as the Wildcards are revealed, we the viewers will then get to vote on who we want to see reinstated and go on to the live rounds.

So the big question is of course, just who are these Wildcards? Continue reading »

Last night we paid our first visit to The X Factor 2012 Boot Camp – the second installment is of course airing tonight on ITV1 – and I have a gripe…

Well, I have a few actually, but one of the main ones is this Boot Camp tradition to hear the acts singing in groups of three.

Why? They won’t be singing in the live shows in sets of three will they? Unless they ARE a group of course…

But the solo singers are of course just that; solo singers, and therefore, putting them into groups with others is just plain pointless and I think it really puts many of the singers at a big disadvantage.

We saw a lot of the truly good solo artists struggling last night, including Jahmene Douglas who forgot the words to Maroon 5’s – by now intensely annoying, we heard it that many times – song Moves Like Jagger… Continue reading »

Yesterday, which was Day 21 in the CBB house, saw this week’s shopping task BBTV come to an end, but before it did, there were of course a few more challenges for our celebs to face…

And one of those was Big Brother’s Big Deals, which was a shopping channel show, presented by Coleen and Julian who had just 45 seconds to sell a variety of items to the TV viewers watching in the living room.

Once all the items had been shown, the viewers had the chance to ring the shopping channel sales team and put in their orders for all the items featured on the show.

If the TV viewers placed orders for at least 10 out of the 15 items, they would pass that part of the task.

Next up was the last BBTV news bulletin, presented by Julie, and there was a totally sphincter clenching moment as Julie read out a conversation between Harvey and Coleen in which Coleen said that if she were Julie, she couldn’t just sit there chain smoking while other housemates were desperate for a cig and not give them any… Continue reading »

Yesterday saw the start of the final shopping task in the Celebrity Big Brother house…

Entitled BBTV, the task requires the housemates to take part in various mini-TV shows. There’s kids’ TV, news bulletins and quiz shows, so all the HMs were kept busy busy yesterday!

We have a load of clips for you, but first, Julie is still reacting badly to being nominated by her fellow housemates this week, and has issued forth several bile filled rants about the people who nominated her…

Telling Julian that she feels Harvey, Ashley and Mike The Sitch are “bullies” who’ve stabbed her in the back, she added, “I hope they rot in hell!”

It’s quite astounding that she can’t see or hear how incredibly hypocritical she’s being! As we saw in last night’s highlights show, as she went into the Diary Room to nominate, she kissed Mike and said, “Love you” to him, then within seconds, she nominated him!

However, Julie did get to enjoy a spot of revenge when she was appointed news reader for yesterday’s BBTV, which requires her to read BB news whenever she heard the opening theme tune to the mock bulletin… Continue reading »

As we reported yesterday, which was Day 19, the last round of nominations saw Julie, Lorenzo and Martin facing a double eviction on Wednesday, and I’m 99% sure Julie’s going to be offski!

What do you think?

When the announcement was made, while Martin and Lorenzo took the news well and were completely casual about it, Julie – and her buddy Julian – were visibly shaken, and now, all Julie can talk about is whether she’ll get booed or not when she leaves.

And on the subject of peeps leaving, Coleen and Julian had a chat about how Rhian and Danica came to be up for nominations – and of course, they subsequently left – with Julian remarking that the HAM trio – that’s Harvey, Ashley and Mike The Sitch – ganged up on the girls by way of punishing them for rejecting Mike and Ashley’s advances.

And of course, he’s quite right! That is why the lads nominated both Danica and Rhian… Continue reading »

Yesterday was Day 18 in the CBB house, and it was the day when the majority of the remaining housemates openly discussed Julie’s vitriol and two-faced behaviour.

They have all – with the exception of Julian – talked about the various ways that Julie has manipulated everyone, and how, especially with Coleen, Julie will say, “I love you darling” with one breathe, then call her “a f***ing t**t” with the other!

And of course, as we saw on the night Samantha and Danica were evicted, Julie was already thinking about the next round of nominations, and to that end, she pretty much dragged a very reluctant Harvey into the bathroom and asked, “Who are we going to nominate?”

He replied, “I haven’t got a clue nanna, but we’re not allowed to talk about it innit…”

But undaunted, Julie said, “Prince?”

Harvey again reiterated that they aren’t allowed to discuss nominations, and beat a hasty retreat, but of course, Big Brother heard it all, and yesterday, relayed the conversation to the house and punished Julie by removing all of her animal print clothes. Continue reading »
