Coming soon to Five is a new series following the day-to-day lives of the 170 monkeys, chimps, orangutans and apes that live in the largest primate rescue centre in the world: the Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre in Dorset. Filmed over the course of a year, the series follows the rescue and rehabilitation stories of some of the world’s most abused and neglected primates, and the hard work of Jim and Alison Cronin in their ongoing mission to stop the illegal smuggling of these animals from the wild.
Chimps that were found abused in laboratories, circus tents or as photographers’ props are rehabilitated and given the chance to spend the rest of their days being cared for in a natural environment. The series also finds out how the staff – including animal manger Jeremy, and keepers Emma, Paul and Mike – look after their furry charges, and recounts the centre’s funniest and most shocking stories alongside dramas of all kinds.
Highlights of the series include the birth of woolly monkey Julio who, immediately after being born, was rejected by his mother; the rescue of Bryan – a chimp who was found on a beach in Mexico where he was being groomed to work as a photographer’s prop; the birth of Dinda – the latest orangutan baby to join the Park; and the rescue of Koko, who is otherwise affectionately known as one of the ‘Ugly Monkeys’.

Have just finished watching Monkey Life which I thorougly enjoyed, especially seeing Dinda the orangutan who I adopted earlier in the summer. She's so cute!! I visited Monkey World last year for the first time and while there met Jim who stopped to have a chat with me. It was so upsetting to learn of his passing and I do wish Alison all the best for the future both for herself and for Monkey World. I will be there again as soon as I can.

Hi there! I love Monkey life that's on five at the moment. I didn't really know much about each primates but now this show has helped me explore new things about each primate! I feel sorry for that monkey who has just died (the one who lost facial hair) and I really love Julio the wooly monkey and am pleased for him because he has now got a new family!

Its so great to see Monkey World with all the chimps back on the telly. We got hooked as a Yorkshire family on Monkey Business about 4/5 years ago and then discovered monkey world itself at the same time as Dorset and Swanage. We have visited Monkey World on several visits we have made to Dorset since. Although we didnt know them to talk to we always seemed to see Jim and Alison and Jim always seemed to have a kind word for the people around him. We were so sad to hear about the death of Jim but will keep up our support for the place and visit whenever we are down there. The new series has been great.

We absolutely love Monkey World, one of the most fantastic places on this planet. We live over 6 hours away so cannot spend as much time as we would like there but make as many trips as possible to follow the progress of the primates. We have adopted Seamus and Bryan and will continue to do so as we much admire the dedication of the staff and the work they do to help these abused and endangered species. We were very saddened to hear of Jim's death earlier this year, but feel sure that Alison will continue with his legacy. Thank you Channel Five for bringing us the programme, albeit without Chris Searle's narration!!

Really enjoying Monkey Life. I hope there will be further series so we can follow the progress of these fascinating primates.

We spend hours at Monkey World. It is one of the most fantastic places we havw ever been to. We have adopted Charlie last year and will continue to do so. It is a great palece for all ages, and the keepers are never to busy to answer questions or pose for a photo, as we found out when will bumped in to Mike. At last a new series, thank you channel five....

MONKEY World is one of the most amazing places ever to visit,
We love the place and get back there as many times as we can but we live over 6 hours away we dont go as much as we could! Any program that shows and highlights the amazing work of this dedicated team of wonderful people and thier extremely valuble work to help orphan and abused primates is wonderful i highly recomend you watch AND GO VISIT spend oodles of cash on thier shop *( which is extremely reasonble) and adopt as many primates as you wish ( doing this gets you free entry for a year to the park!)

Whilst we in the Nursery Group don't particularly approve of the cigar-chomping, whisky-swilling antics of the Bachelors, we do enjoy some other challenging activities. With this in mind, it is worth noting that this new series filmed in the park is not narrated by Mr Chris Serle who narrated all 9 series of Monkey Business. Mr S has not been seen since Pip and Seamus defeated him in a late night poker session eighteen months ago and he never paid the 50 quid he owed them...!!

All we can say on behalf of ourselves and the other chimps in the Bachelor Group is that we are both saddened and pleased to see the film crew finally leave the park after a year. Pleased because we can now use the lavatory without a lens being poked up close to us during our personal moments, and sad because the crew used to keep us stocked-up with quality malt whisky and Honduran cigars. Now we will have to start using the tunnels under the park to get out and buy our own again.
