The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week, the hit-and-run murder of a lawyer is connected to a TV programme dedicated to catching paedophiles. Horatio and the team fear they have a vigilante on their hands when a second man exposed on the show is killed. Horatio and Frank respond when lawyer Sean Radley is deliberately knocked down and killed by a speeding car. The nature of the crime suggests that the killer knew the victim. “You gotta be pretty cold to pull this off,” says Frank. “Not pretty cold, Frank. Cold-blooded,” Horatio corrects him.

The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week sees the conclusion of a dramatic two-part episode in which Horatio must deal with his own problems in Rio before leading the hunt for missing CSI Calleigh.

After being extradited to Brazil to face the music for his part in a murder case (see last week’s episode, ‘Ambush’), Horatio finds himself surrounded by armed gang members on a deserted Rio street. “This is Mala Noche justice,” says the gang leader. Horatio quickly fires off a few rounds and a gunfight ensues, from which the lieutenant emerges victorious. “Mala Noche justice, meet Miami justice,” he spits as he kills the one remaining gangster.

The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week, the discovery of a woman’s body at the bottom of a lake puts Horatio’s exgirlfriend, Julia, in the frame for murder. However, Julia uses dirt she has on the lieutenant to have him arrested and extradited to Brazil. Meanwhile, Calleigh is subjected to a sinister smear campaign.

Horatio and the team are called to the Everglades where two lads have discovered the body of a woman in a car at the bottom of a lake. When the car is dragged from the water, Horatio recognises the victim as Kathleen Newberry – a key witness in his son’s trial. Horatio’s ex-partner, Julia, paid Kathleen $1million not to testify against Kyle (see episode 13, ‘Raising Caine’), and she has been missing ever since. “She’s got a fast car and a bag of money – she could have ended up anywhere,” reflects Tripp. “Anywhere but here,” retorts Horatio.

The investigation throws up a number of suspects, but the CSIs cannot find the killer until they first establish the identity of the intended victim.

Horatio and the team’s latest case brings them to the lavish alfresco location of a wedding cut tragically short. Just as baseball star Greg Tanner is due to wed his fiancée, Susan, the bride is killed by a single shot to the head. As the guests scatter in all directions, the groom’s bodyguard and chauffeur drags him into a limousine and drives him away at high speed.

The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week, Calleigh’s career is on the line as a result of the drastic action she takes during an attempted carjacking. An innocent woman dies at the scene, which may lead to a wrongful-death suit against the county and the dismissal of the star ballistics specialist.

On a beautiful Miami morning, Calleigh is leaving a cafe on her day off when events take a shocking turn. Two men pull up alongside her parked car and demand that she kill the engine. Instead of following instructions, Calleigh points her gun at the pair and tells them she is a police officer. Taking fright, they accelerate down the street. Seconds later, the offenders pull a U-turn and come speeding back. Standing in the road, Calleigh opens fire, causing the vehicle to veer through a nearby shop window.

The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week, the seemingly random shooting of a teenager at a swanky hotel leads the CSIs to a jealous lover and a violent street gang. Against the backdrop of another dazzling Miami morning, Natalia arrives at the scene of the CSIs’ latest case. Canadian teenager Brian Partney has been killed in the lift of the hotel where he and his family were holidaying. “I feel like he was trying to talk to me,” says Natalia as she crouches over the lad’s lifeless body. “He is trying to talk to us,” replies Horatio. “And we are listening.”

The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week, the death of a model during a high-profile fashion show leads the CSIs to a heroin-smuggling ring and a known criminal currently serving time in the same prison as Horatio’s son.

The CSIs’ latest case brings them to the beachside location of a prominent catwalk show where a young model has been electrocuted in front of hundreds of onlookers. “Somebody killed this girl,” Horatio surmises. “You think someone was sending a message?” asks Alexx. “I do Alexx – and I just got it,” retorts the lieutenant.

The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week, when a man is strangled during a solar eclipse, it is not long before the CSIs realise that they have a serial killer on their hands.

It is another dazzling Miami day and Horatio and Alexx hotfoot it to their latest crime scene – poolside at the luxurious Woolrich Hotel, where one Ronnie Temple has been garrotted. Although he was relaxing in a lounger surrounded by dozens of other sun worshippers, no one witnessed the violent attack because they all had their eyes on the sky. A total eclipse had captured everyone’s attention and provided the cover of darkness that the killer needed. “I think the killer counted on the distraction,” observes Jake. “But he didn’t count on us,” shoots back Horatio.

The sixth season of the Miami-based crime drama continues. This week, the death of a young woman in a car fire leads the CSIs to a jealous boyfriend, an unethical credit company and an attempted suicide. Elsewhere, Delko gets a helping hand from a mysterious face from his past.

Their latest case brings Horatio and the team to a beach where 19-year-old university student Jessica Taylor has perished in a car fire. The owner of the car, Brandon Fox, managed to escape the blaze but was badly injured and now lies unconscious. Analysis of an accelerant found at the scene suggests that somebody cut the car’s brake line deliberately, prior to the incident. “It’s the perfect way to start a car fire,” says Delko.

Suddenly everyone has to clear the area – a water heater is about to blow. The heater flies through the air and lands with a crash on Frank’s new car – just another brush with death for the world-weary detective. “First it’s a damn land mine, then it’s a water heater,” he sighs. “What’s next?” “Next,” replies Horatio solemnly, “we catch a killer.”

rush (20/24)

The forensics drama series continues tonight. In this episode, a famous actor is found dead on a film set, leading the CSIs to uncover underhand deeds at a rehab clinic.

The febrile world of celebrity comes under the microscope in this week’s CSI: Miami, as Horatio Caine and his team are called to a film set where movie star Brody Lassiter has been found dead in a stunt car. Initial enquiries reveal that the actor had made enemies on the film with his demanding behaviour, but no one can explain how he winded up in a car boot. Brody’s old friend and minder Eddie Corbett blames himself for not keeping a closer eye on him. “I should have been watching,” he says. “It’s no secret that Brody could be difficult sometimes, but he didn’t deserve to die like this.”
