ER ends its 15-year run with a two-hour episode. Gates treats a young teen suffering from alcohol poisoning after playing a drinking game. Old friends come to show their support when a new medical facility for the underprivileged is opened; Sam receives a special gift for her birthday; and Carter and a new intern try to save a mother in labour with twins.

The second of tonight's ER double bill is a real treat for the show's fans. George Clooney, Eriq La Salle, Julianna Margulies and Noah Wyle reprise their roles in this special episode. Benton (La Salle) visits Carter (Wyle) in his time of need as he waits for a kidney transplant. Meanwhile, Dr Ross (Clooney) must persuade a grieving grandmother in Seattle (guest star Susan Sarandon) to donate her grandson's organs, including his kidney, which could save the life of a doctor.

ER: Dream Runner

The first of tonight's double-bill of the hospital drama sees a special guest-starring appearance by former series-regular Alex Kingston, one of a number of cameos by the show's former stars in ER 's final series. Neela finds herself having a recurring dream about her crazy day trying to save a young girl with sickle cell anemia. In her dream, Neela goes in for an attending interview and is surprised to see Dr Elizabeth Corday (guest star Kingston).

ER: Parental Guidance

The classic drama series continues its 15th and final season. Dubenko returns to work, due in no small part to Brenner's organised protests, but Brenner asks a favour of him in return. A young gymnast comes into the ER with injuries consistent with a fall, but Banfield and Gates each think a different family member may actually be to blame. And Sarah neglects to ask Gates' permission before getting her tongue pierced.

ER: Life After Death

Classic drama series ER , from the late writer Michael Crichton, returns for its 15th - and final - season. In this first episode, Abby awakes following the ambulance explosion and rushes to check on the other victims, in spite of her own injuries. A mother and daughter are rushed in to County General from the scene but Abby misdiagnoses the case. Meanwhile Morris and Neela struggle to keep up with the number of casualties following the explosion. Later in the series, there are return appearances from George Clooney, Noah Wyle and other original cast members.

The Beginning of the End

Determined to have a baby, Cate comes up with a plan in which her niece would donate some of her eggs, but she has difficulty in getting Russell's agreement. Dr Carter (Noah Wyle) surprises the staff with a visit to the ER and makes enquiries about working some shifts there. Gates treats Teddy, an eccentric patient who may have ingested a toxin while hunting for mushrooms to make a love potion.

The Family Man

A car accident in the ambulance bay leaves a woman with a damaged hip that will need surgery and a week's stay in hospital. Her nine-year-old daughter will need somebody to care for her, but when Brenner attempts to find a suitable family member he encounters difficulties.

A Long, Strange Trip

Brand New Series: Gates and Morris tend to an elderly man who was assaulted on the street. Brenner and Dubenko clash while treating a mother thought to have late stage cancer, and Dr. Morgenstern returns to the ER to assist a former mentor who is seriously ill.

Love Is a Battlefield

Morris treats a 16-year-old girl who is acting in an agitated manner after being hit by a car while riding her bicycle. Sam is furious with Gates when she finds out that he spent the night with Daria. She decides that their relationship is over for good, but he can't let go of his feelings for her. An elderly couple who have been married and divorced three times over half a century come to the ER after she has a fall in the bathroom and he hurts his back picking her up. Neela loses her cool and makes a confession to Brenner when he returns from Australia.

Dream Runner

Neela has recurring dreams about trying to save a girl with sickle cell anemia. In them she also goes to an attending interview and sees an old colleague, has conversations with Ray, welcomes Brenner back from Australia, and assists Gates and Banfield in trying to save a "dream runner" who jumped out of a window during his sleep.

Separation Anxiety

Brand New Series: Tensions continue between Gates and Sam, coming to a head when Tony discovers he is the last to know about Alex's impending release from hospital. Neela has to tell a young girl with sickle cell anemia that she must have an operation, and the case leads her to consider specialising in pediatric surgery.

The High Holiday

A package for Morris from his deceased father is delivered to the ER, and Sam has some anxiety over Alex being removed from the ventilator. A woman with a high risk pregnancy worries that she will be deported, while an old friend returns to celebrate the holidays.

Let It Snow

Thursday 5 March 9:00pm on M4

Neela must testify in court and defend her actions regarding a patient who died. Sarah and Alex defy Sam and sneak off to a party, with dire consequences, while a snowstorm strands Banfield and Morris at a Nebraska medical conference.
