Colleen puts Martha in a difficult position. Morag reveals her theory about Sam’s death. Ric betrays Matilda’s trust when he agrees to fight. Larry has to make a decision about what to tell Aden.
The investigation into Sam’s death continues this week, as Martha and Jack come under suspicion. Unfortunately for Martha, Colleen has decided to stand up for her great-niece – and ends up telling Detective Ross Buckton that Sam and Martha recently had a huge fight over Jack. This supports Buckton’s theory that Martha and Jack killed Sam to get her out of the way, and Jack does not make things any better when he talks to the cops without a lawyer. Jack’s shaky story makes Buckton even more convinced that the pair are guilty, and he arrests them when forensic test results come back. When Morag hears what has happened, she confronts Buckton and tells him he has it all wrong. The detective is not interested in Morag’s opinion – until she informs him that she knows who really killed Sam...
Ric, meanwhile, is in a world of trouble thanks to his financial woes. Unable to pay the bills or find a job, Ric is forced to reconsider the only option he has left – Noel’s business proposal. Noel, anticipating that Ric would eventually fold, has arranged a fight for the following evening and intends to make some cash out of the boy. Lying to Matilda that he is going to the city to visit Drew, Ric meets Noel and heads off to the warehouse where the fight is to take place. They arrive to find a crowd of men jeering and calling out as two fighters battle it out in a makeshift boxing ring. Ric throws himself into the fight and manages to win, but when he gets home he has to quickly come up with an excuse to explain his bruises. He gets away with it this time... but now he has a taste for victory. Will he be so lucky next time?
While Ric considers his next move, Aden is slowly recovering from the injuries he sustained in the Diner collapse. His memory is beginning to return, but he is troubled by a nagging sense of shame – what is in his past that he has been trying to hide? When Rachel tells Larry, Aden’s father, what is happening, Larry realises that he must tell Aden the truth about the past...
Also this week, Colleen is overwhelmed with guilt at accidentally incriminating Martha. The Pier Diner opens for business. Geoff hurts Melody when he tells her how he feels about her. Belle starts her new job. And Roman decides to do whatever it takes to prove Martha’s innocence.
