Martha struggles to keep a major secret. Melody is upset – but no one knows why. Morag discovers the truth about Ross. Kane puts a proposal to Irene. A listless Jai arrives in Summer Bay.
After a recent spell of romantic bliss, Martha’s bubble bursts this week when she realises that she is pregnant – and she is not sure who the father is. Unwilling to undergo any risky tests that may cause her to miscarry, Martha seeks advice from Rachel. Rachel urges her to tell Jack, but newly engaged Martha does not want to rock the boat with her fiancé. Deciding to keep her secret for the time being, Martha gets another surprise when Jack suggests they try for a baby. Could this be a way out for Martha? If she can fudge the dates, then maybe the whole thing can be swept tidily under the carpet...
Geoff and Melody’s burgeoning love affair is also on the rocks this week. Nicole is throwing a party, and Melody goes along expecting to see Geoff there. When he turns up, she is relieved to see him, but her excitement does not last long. After Geoff admits to Melody that being with her may be more trouble than it is worth, he reveals the real reason he came to the party – to break up with her. A devastated Melody retreats to one of the upstairs bedrooms. She is joined by a drunken Axel, who does his best to comfort her. In the days following the party, Christine is concerned that Melody is taking the break-up too hard, as she has become extremely withdrawn. But is Geoff the true cause of her introverted behaviour, or did something else happen on the night of the party?
Meanwhile, Morag and Ross are ready to take their relationship to the next level and move in together. But when Morag mentions long-term commitment, Ross shies away, leaving Morag feeling confused and rejected. Quickly realising that he has made a mistake, Ross apologises to Morag, but she is not having it. Finally, he decides to tell her why he has been so distant – his wife died soon before he came to Summer Bay.
Although she is shocked, Ross’s behaviour now begins to make more sense to Morag. But when she receives an anonymous text message telling her to stay away from Ross Buckton, she is thrown. Who would be motivated to send such a threatening message?
Elsewhere, Oliver is due to be discharged from hospital, and Kane has made a big decision about his son’s future. He no longer wants to subject Oliver to a life on the run, and asks Irene if she will take care of him. After some consideration, Irene says she will do it – but only if Kirsty asks her face to face.
