Television chef Keith Floyd has revealed he has cancer.
65-year-old Floyd has had five operations to treat his bowl cancer, which he was diagnosed with six weeks ago when doctors found a tumour. He is now having a five week course of chemotherapy.
Floyd has said: 'I went to Spain six weeks ago to see my old doctor about a little growth.
'He said: "Not very good news, I'm afraid, you've got bowel cancer."
'It's not what you want to hear. Since then I've had endless operations. Five knife ops in total and they were 90 per cent successful in cutting it out.
'Now I have five weeks of chemotherpay coming up.
'I'll have to make daily visits to Nimes Hospital. I'm not thrilled about it, no, but what can I do? I'll get through it.'
Floyd has written many cooking books and had several different series, including Floyd on France and Floyd on Italy.
In an interview in 2007, Floyd admitted that he had been ordered to give up drinking alcohol – Floyd had often appeared to be drinking, even in his shows while he was cooking.
'I drink now in moderation. You're on the road. After the show, what do you do? There's no one to talk to, you've talked all night in fact, you've done all you possibly can – let's go and have a stiff one.'
Floyd now lives in France with his partner, who he has been with since he became divorced from his wife last year.
