Concluding this week is the documentary series following the day-to-day lives of over 240 monkeys, chimps, orangutans and other animals that live in one of the largest primate rescue centres in the world.

Filmed over the course of a year at the Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre in Dorset, the series follows the nail-biting rescue and rehabilitation stories of some of the most abused and neglected primates in the world. It also explores the unwavering hard work of Dr Alison Cronin MBE and her team in their ongoing mission to stop the illegal smuggling of these animals from the wild. Displaced and abused animals from all over the world are brought together at the centre, where they are given the chance to spend the rest of their days being cared for in a safe, natural environment. From power struggles to bonds of friendship, family feuds to new arrivals, Monkey Life follows the daily dramas of some of the most beautiful creatures on the planet.

In this week’s first episode on Monday, It is a big day for one of the park’s naughtiest residents, chimpanzee Seamus. He is moving from the chimp nursery into the bachelor pad. Elsewhere, toddler orangutan Aris is in recovery, and one of his new housemates has decided to pick a fight with him.

In Tuesday’s instalment, Aris needs surgery as his knee injury is worse than expected. Chimp Patricia finally relaxes in the company of alpha male, Hananya. And Seamus is in for a shock when he meets big male Paco.

In a special edition of the show on Wednesday, Monkey Life travels to Chile, South America. The team has joined forces with the military to fly 88 capuchin monkeys to Monkey World. It will be the park’s biggest and most challenging rescue ever. And for the four capuchins already living at the park, they have no idea that their lives will soon change forever.

On Thursday, the Chilean capuchins finally arrive in the UK, and there is bad news in the orangutan house. Something has gone seriously wrong for Aris since his knee operation.

And rounding off the series on Friday, Aris is still poorly; the baby woolly monkey finally gets a name; and the alpha male chimps exert their authority. But could there be a coup brewing?
