A man (Kevin Spacey) found wandering at New York Central Station, is taken into psychiatric care because he claims to be Prot from the planet K-PAX, "1,000 of your light years away". Psychiatrist Dr. Mark Powell (Jeff Bridges) doesn't believe him and tried to seek out a more earthly explanation in Iain Softley's assured, gripping sci-fi fantasy.
