NCIS star Michael Weatherly is confident of a return to the hit crime drama.
Weatherly is one of several NCIS actors currently seeking a salary increase for the next season but has said he is “optimistic” that he will feature again on the show.
"I'm very excited to come back," he said. "I have the best job on television and the best character. I have an extremely talented team of folks that I've been working with for a long time who are in negotiations. It's ongoing, but I'm extremely positive about the outcome. Optimism reigns supreme."
The 41-year-old New Yorker has played Tony DiNozzo on the drama series since 2003.
Co-star David McCallum has confirmed he is returning next season.

It’s been reported four of NCIS’s biggest stars are requesting larger salaries.
Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo), Pauley Perrette (Abby Sciuto), David McCallum (Donald Mallard) and Sean Murray (Timothy McGee) are coming off contract at the conclusion to the current season and are reportedly entering negotiations with CBS regarding pay rises.
It is believed the stars are each earning around $100,000 (£65,600) per episode, which, in Hollywood terms, is low for a cast of a successful show in its seventh season.
American network CBS is yet to comment on the situation.

Continuing this week is the hit US drama series based on the work of the navy’s dedicated federal agency. In this episode, a navy captain is murdered and disembowelled in what appears to be a case of international espionage. Elsewhere, McGee meets his ideal woman online – but is she just a little too perfect?
The body of Captain Thomas Jennings is found in a hut in the middle of a forest. He has been hit over the head and disembowelled, and a pentagram has been imprinted on his back. The postmortem shows that Jennings was killed by carbon-monoxide poisoning, and that the disembowelment and imprint occurred after death. Ducky notices a regular pattern to the injuries. “I don’t believe this was the work of satanists,” he tells Gibbs. “Whoever sliced Captain Jennings open wasn’t trying to kill or torture him – they were looking for something.”
