Frazer and Rosie receive some devastating news. Dan and Sam grow closer. Riley lands himself in trouble. Rachel’s past comes back to haunt her. Steve and Miranda clash.

Frazer and Rosie face a terrible blow this week when an ultrasound fails to find their baby’s heartbeat. The doctor believes Rosie has experienced a “false pregnancy”. Rosie cannot help but apologise to Frazer, believing she is to blame for their situation. Their anguish is made worse when they return home to find their friends have thrown them a surprise baby shower. While their neighbours console them, Rosie slips into denial. She says she still feels pregnant despite what the doctors say, and chooses to ignore the diagnosis. She finds an ally in Sam, who encourages her to follow her maternal instincts.

An exasperated Frazer tries to make Rosie see she is mistaken, and calls on his mum, Prue, to help talk her round. But Frazer is stunned when Rosie finally opens up about her feelings.

Elsewhere, Ben places himself in danger when he becomes trapped in a storm drain while playing with Charlie. He is rescued by Dan and Sam, who return him to a grateful Libby. Dan’s renewed feelings for Sam continue to grow, and when she declares her intention to leave Erinsborough, he surprises them both by asking her to stay. Sam agrees, and Dan is impressed by her inner strength as she helps Rosie through her crisis. Dan gives serious thought to the possibility of giving his marriage another chance. Libby, meanwhile, is forced to swallow her heartbreak and accept Dan and Sam’s relationship.

Riley is also facing a difficult time this week. He and Steve are looking forward to football practice with the local team, but his confidence takes a knock when a figure from his past shows up. Newcomer John joins in the game and begins taunting Riley. Confronted by his old self-esteem issues, Riley tries to rise above John’s jibes, but when he is pushed too far, he ends up in a fight on the field. Riley is left facing assault charges, while Steve and Miranda are desperate to know what is behind their son’s behaviour.

Also this week, Rachel and Susan must confront their recent problems once again when Rachel is called upon to make a victim impact statement about Angus. Steph and Oliver team up to block Frazer and Marco’s application for a liquor licence at the general store. And when Steve and Miranda clash over their different parenting styles, Steve refuses to accept that his unresolved feelings about his father are at the root of the conflict.
