Star Traders: The Christmas Challenge
Saturday 22 December 2007 8:15pm - 9:15pm on ITV1.

ITV1 gets celebrities to prove their worth in Star Traders: The Christmas Challenge

The Saturday night one hour event in association with the charity Shelter is hosted by Phillip Schofield. The show aims to bring together a celebrity duo whose challenge is to ‘trade up’ a small item of consequence into something outstanding and remarkable that can be auctioned off for charity.

The celebrity duo’s ‘trade up’ challenge could take them all over the country and to complete the challenge they must use every resource possible – celebrity friends, charm, brains and ingenuity will be a must.

The VT footage of their adventure will be shown in the studio by Phillip to the viewers at home with their final ‘star lot’ remaining a mystery until the very end of the show.

Alongside a variety of surprise appearances the show will also feature a studio challenge hosted by Coleen McLoughlin, making her first TV appearance since signing to ITV. The studio challenge will be in aid of the Association of Children’s Hospices, the UK voice for children’s hospice services.

At the end of the show, a celebrity auctioneer will host an auction for the specially invited celebrities and businessmen in the audience who each hope to place a bid on the final star lot with all proceeds going to Shelter, the national charity that campaigns on housing and homelessness in the UK.

“We’re so excited to be bringing this feel-good Christmas show to ITV1, it's going to be hugely entertaining for the viewers with lots of surprises along the way,” says Layla Smith, ITV’s Controller of Alternative Programmes.

Finally these useless people (so called celebs) get to prove their worth. What a brilliant idea (based on red paper clip no doubt) - our over-rated so called celebs do some good. I'll be watching just to see how much money goes to shelter - well done ITV
