“Molly's devastated. He's vile. He questions whether or not the baby is even his."

Mass cull at Hollyoaks promised (about time)

As a regular viewer of Hollyoaks (Channel 4) I'm often forced into defending the show from sneering naysayers. Most of the time, these naysayers watch other soaps without lambasting them for being unrealistic and daft. At least with Hollyoaks, you can laugh at the bad acting without too much guilt and the cast are precisely 38% better looking than anyone else on TV.

However, that all said, lately it's been increasingly difficult to justify the show, even to myself. Hollyoaks is in a massive rut and has gone from melodramtic silliness and moronic good fun to wallowing and increasingly reliant on overly long story arcs which are as pointless as they are irritating.

Which is why, it's great to hear that the new boss of the show (a chap called Paul Marquess) is going to trim some fat with his TV scissors.

Hollyoaks fave Cindy Hutchinson – played by Stephanie Waring – is about to accuse Jake Dean – played by Kevin Sacre – of kidnapping her daughter Holly.

Stephanie told Bang International that when Holly goes missing, her character "clutches at straws" and instantly points the finger at Jake.

She said, "Cindy calls Holly's phone for about the hundredth time, and someone answers. It's a man's voice, and it turns out to be Jake.

"He's found the mobile in the woods - and because of his chequered past, Cindy automatically thinks that he's done something to her little girl."

And Bang also report that as time goes on and there’s still no sign of Holly, the police ask the family to make a TV appeal which Tony’s keen to do.

Stephanie added, "The police tell them to wait before launching any kind of appeal for Holly, because it's better to do an official one.
