Hello again dance fans, it's Saturday night and we're back in the dance hall.
Did you see Brucie do his 'special dance' when he said he could have been the new Sugababe? I'll not forget that.
First to dance tonight is Phil Tufnell and Katya. He did great last night, and passed all expectations. you can tell he is taking is seriously, which the judges did not expect.
It's latin night tonight, so he is dancing the cha cha cha. I like his gold shirt coordinating with Katya's dress. He's not quite as good as last night, but he is happy doing it. I think latin might be slightly out of his comfort zone, but he could get more confident with it. Good effort for a first latin dance though.
Let's see what the judges think: Len says "From magic to tragic." He didn't like his posture or footwork, but at least he got through it. "Well done." Alesha thinks he gave a cheeky cha cha cha. He needs to perfect the cha cha wa lks and improve his control. Bruno thinks Phil has a natural easygoing nature, but he needs to translate it into his feet. He thought Phil was great to look at though. Ooh err Bruno. Craig thought he was flat footed, but he is likeable on the floor.
SCORES: 4, 6, 6, 6 = 22/40.
Now we have Craig Kelly and Flavia. They are dancing the rumba.
Seems quite good so far. His acting skills can transfer into this dance to give it the intense, slow drama it </mce:script>src="/modules/tinymce/tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/langs/en.js?D" type="text/javascript"> // --> needs. It's a lmost simmering. It's gone down well with the audience. Brucie thought it was raunchy.
Len says that hip action is key to the rumba. He thought Craig gave good hips, but he seemed a little clumsy. He did give a good performance though. Alesha thought he controlled his hands well and put in a good effort. Bruno thinks he needs to keep working at it because it wasn't quite right. Craig thought it was a bit stilted. He also seemed to be presenting Flavia through the routine rather than actually dancing a story. He thinks there is potential for improvement though.
SCORES: 5, 6, 5, 6 = 22/40.
Dancing a cha cha cha now, Laila Rouass and Anton du Beke.
Me thinks Laila has some dancing experience before doing Strictly. She seems to have a bit of rhythm about her already, to say it is the first week.
Anton looks like the cat who got the cream to be dancing with her.
Craig thought she did good spins, though she was out of sync a couple of times. He thought it lacked a bit of excitement and he expected it to be better, and he hopes more is to come from her. Len thinks she has a lot of potential, but her dance tonight was "very safe". She can produce a higher standard of choreography. Alesha didn't think she was as good ass yesterday, and she lacked the attack that she had in the ballroom dance. Bruno thinks she wasted her "magnificent equipment". He has a funny turn of phrase. Constructive criticism?
SCORES: 6, 7, 6, 6 = 25/40.
Next up, Zoe Lucker and James Jordan dancing a rumba.
It's okay. Bit dull though. I see no faults in it, it's just slow but that's the style of the dance. The music doesn't help. Out of Reach by Gabrielle. Yawn.
They've made it into a bit of a passionate story at the end. OMG ARE THEY GOING TO ACTUALLY KISS? No.
Alesha loved it. She thought it was sexy but not over the top. "Wicked." Bruno "felt something growing big and powerful". Yikes, someone get the calm pills. Craig thinks Bruno needs a cage, dharrrling. He loved it too. "Beautiful." He thought she had the whole package. Len thought it was more suited to the bedroom than the ballroom.
SCORES: 8 (ooh!), 7, 8, 8 = 31/40.
Now it's Jo Wood and Brendan Cole. They are dancing the rumba.
Yikes, I'm not sure about her dress.
She's trying at least. It's not fab. When she's holding onto Brendan it's like she doesn't want to let go.
Bruno says "at least you did it to the end". Craig's favourite bit was when she was "standing still". Brendan has had a go at him. Len congratulates Brendan for involving Jo with the choreography and not leaving it all up to him. Alesha thinks the rumba suited her better tonight, and she commends her for trying.
Bruce told her that she is his favourite. THE BRUCIE CURSE. She won't make it, I feel.
SCORES: 3 (OUCH), 5, 5, 5 = 18/40. Uhoh.
Richard Dunwoody and Lilia are next with the cha cha cha.
He didn't do great last night, so how will he tonight?
He is doing a bit better than last night I think. He's enjoying it. Lilia is dancing around him a lot.
Len thought he had no hips, but he gave a great effort. He enjoyed it, even if it looked a bit berserk. Alesha thinks he is adorable. He may not have natural rhythm but she doesn't care. Bruno says he was dancing to another tune, and he had too many espressos. Alesha has piped in again, saying that he has a great attitude. Craig was left with a smile on his face. Although, it was blocky and he lost it half way through, but in a vague way it was entertaining. I think that;s the best he can hope for.
SCORES: 4, 5, 5, 5 = 19/40.
Next up, Ricky Whittle and Natalie.
They're doing the rumba.
Wow, this will get high scores. He is very smooth and sharp. Very passionate with Natalie and the steps are coming naturally to him. Not sure if it is typical of a rumba though. Will Len query it?
Bruce thinks they put the temperature up.
Alesha thinks it is refreshing to see a male celeb dancing so well so early on in the competition. Bruno thought he was "so macho and so in control". Craig thought it was slick, confident, masculine and sexy. He has never seen a first latin dance by a male celeb as good before. Len says that it was all hard and aggressive and too fast and sharp. Told ya. He needs a blend of movement. He thinks Ricky is the one to beat though.
SCORES: 8, 8, 8, 8 = 32/40.
Final couple is Natalie Cassidy and Vincent Simone.
She's doing well, though I think she is having a bit of trouble with the steps. Vincent is doing a lot of the work around her while she poses.
Bruce politely says it was wonderful.
Craig thinks it was okay but he didn't love it. She needed to bring more energy to it. Len thinks she did better than last night and she was enthusiastic. Alesha thought the trust between Natalie and Vincent was good. Bruno thinks she was nervous, as she lost her footing, but she can come back and show us what she is made of.
SCORES: 6, 7, 7, 6 = 26/40.
That is all the couples tonight. Ricky and Natalie are in the lead, and Jo and Brendan are bottom. Now is time to vote folks. See you at the dance-off...
The two couples in the dance-off are:
Craig and Flavia and Richard and Lilia.
They both have to perform their highest scoring dance again.
Craig and Flavia are first. As you'd expect he's giving it his all like he has nothing to lose.
Richard Dunwoody and Lilia now dancing his cha cha cha from earlier. Aww bless him, he's like a mad dancing elf priest. He looks like he is having a great time, it'll be sad if he goes, but I fear he will.
Shame the pro dancers are Flavia and Lilia, they're both fab.
This is who the judges choose to save. Len has the deciding vote.
Craig saves: Craig and Flavia
Alesha saves: Craig and Flavia
Bruno saves: Craig and Flavia.
Len doesn't need to vote, Craig and Flavia are saved.
Richard Dunwoody and Lilia are out.
Right folks. Aw this is sad. Bye bye dancing elf priest, sorry you couldn't enjoy it some more.
Goodnight folks, see you next week. Keep dancing.
