Barbara Windsor’s long, varied and extremely successful career is honoured in a gala evening jam-packed with the country’s best comic talent as well as some of Barbara’s close celebrity friends. A line up that includes Alan Carr, Sean Lock, Rich Hall, Patrick Kielty, Bernard Cribbins, Cheryl Fergison and Christopher Biggins all get a chance to have a tongue-in-cheek pop at a national treasure and those that can’t be there on the night also get to chip in on film, including Michael Sheen, the cast of EastEnders and Leslie Phillips.

A Comedy Roast returns to celebrate the latest brave ‘roastee’ Davina McCall in a gala evening jam-packed with some of the country’s best comic talent and Davina’s celebrity friends. Jimmy Carr hosts, and comedic talent ripping into Davina includes Rich Hall, Debra Stephenson, Patrick Kielty, Ed Byrne and Jack Whitehall. There are also appearances by Chris Moyles, Dermot O’Leary, Julian Clary and Fearne Cotton. And of course no night with Davina could be complete without a large showing from her television offspring, the Big Brother contestants.

In this programme, Pamela faces a series of famous faces also known as ‘roasters’ as they tease her about her life. Pamela’s roasters include her ex-husband Tommy Lee, who gives a musical performance, television presenter Jimmy Kimmel, Courtney Love, Sarah Silverman, Golden Girls actress Bea Arthur, who reads sexually explicit excerpts from one of Pamela’s novels, and Andy Dick, who impersonates Pamela’s plastic surgeon.

Marking Joan Rivers’ 40 years on the comedy circuit this episode celebrates Joan’s position as one of the pioneers of modern comedy. Joan’s ‘roasters’ include Mario Cantone ( Sex and the City ), Carl Reiner ( Ocean’s Eleven ), Brad Garrett ( Everybody Loves Raymond ), Donald Trump and Tom Arnold. A roast featuring Pamela Anderson airs next week.

UK television premiere of a series of American comedy ‘roasts’, screening in Channel 4’s comedy season. Jason Alexander ( Seinfeld ) acts as ‘roastmaster’, while Farrah Fawcett, George Takei, Golden Girls actress Betty White and comedian Fred Willard perform the roasting duties for Star Trek actor William Shatner. Plus there are taped guest appearances from Leonard Nimoy, Sandra Bullock and Ben Stiller. Joan Rivers faces the ‘roasters’ tomorrow.

The last in the Comedy Roast series hosted by Jimmy Carr, includes ‘roasters’ Jack Dee, Sean Lock, Paddy McGuinness, Sally James, Jimmy Carr and a special guest appearance from Sir Terry Wogan, who provide outrageously mischievous and in some case, borderline offensive tributes to their target ‘roastee’, Chris Tarrant. Nothing is left to chance, but Tarrant puts a brave face on proceedings as his life and career are both relentlessly and meticulously picked apart.
