Ant and Dec

Ant and Dec once ruled television. They’ve since had their thunder stolen by… well… no-one in particular.

Once, TV bosses would look automatically in their direction if they needed someone affable and game to front some variety show or other. As we all know that TV bosses aren’t the best people to look to for new ideas, they’ve looked their way again as the duo are to front a new show with ‘variety’ in mind.

The pair, who remind me of little fluffy boiled eggs in a way, have confirmed that the former Byker Grovers are currently recording a pilot show for a new family-based gameshow.

Dec (the Geordie one) told The Sun that the ITV programme would be like “Family Fortunes meets The Generation Game”.

He continued: “It’s great fun as we’re recording it up at Pinewood on a massive sound stage. It’s quite a physical show – really different to what we normally do – so we need the space. It’s great getting families involved, as Saturday night TV is about families. It’s good to have real people on, as loads of shows have celebrities attached.”

It could go either way this one. I mean, it sounds hellish as a prospect… a bit like Alan Carr’s Celebrity Ding Dong except with a bigger budget. That said, they are rather good at making this sort of junk, so it’s probably best to reserve judgement until we know more.
