Ben and Him

Laura, Ben and Him is a brand new multi-character sketch show for ITV2, written by and starring hotly tipped new writer-performers: Perrier Award winner Laura Solon (Ruddy Hell! It’s Harry and Paul), Perrier Best Newcomer Award winner Ben Willbond (Starter for 10, The Thick Of It, Extras), and Marek Larwood (Saturday Live Again, Extras and one-third of the if.comedy Award nominated We Are Klang).

The eight-part series of lightning-fast sketches, vox pops and recurring characters includes: Dennis with Narnia in his wardrobe – “Bloody government. I can’t even get an extension for a small non-offensive glass conservatory and someone’s built a bastard forest in my cupboard” – the philosophy of Terry and Terry – “I fink the best thing about being a bed wetter, right, is I don’t find it hard getting up in the mornings” – and bored parents’ bed time stories – “There didn’t seem to be any valid reason on God’s earth why a woman shouldn’t do at least two of the beast-men… maybe at the same time”. Also featuring: the slag trap, Raymond Allan, Carole’s Airline, The Red Arrows down the pub, Jill and her office pony, bankers Ed and Julian, a duel, two cyclists, The French, and a clown who sues for work related accidents.

Laura, Ben and Him fuses Laura, Ben and Marek’s very individual brand of award-winning comedy – ensemble sketches, closely observed characters, monologues, one-liners, returning situations and stand-alone skits – into one show for the first time, resulting in a series jam-packed with silliness.

The series is produced by Sioned Wiliam (Big Train) and directed by Ben Kellett (Touch Me, I’m Karen Taylor, Grownups).

What the the press has said about:

Laura Solon
“Solon’s twisted imagination means that the show is jam-packed with delights. Her performance(s) are expertly differentiated… And there are countless killer one-liners.”
The Guardian

“A strikingly original, darkly funny series of monologues… Studded with finely wrought one liners, this is the year’s most impressive debut.”
The Times

“Her magnetism comes from her ability to physically change herself on stage, her taut, controlled performance and most importantly her high-quality lines.”
The Independent

Ben Willbond
“The man is faultless: he is a brilliant writer with a positively forensic ear for dialogue…a charismatic performer who combines serious acting talent with killer comedy delivery.”
The Scotsman

“Ben Willbond stands out head and shoulders above other character comedians…with a clutch of fully formed, rounded figures that should set TV producers drooling.”
Time Out

“A performance of understated brilliance.”
The Herald

Marek Larwood and We Are Klang
“This is stupid comedy done with great intelligence…Buy, borrow or steal to see this uproarious sketch trio in the funniest show on the fringe.”
The Times

“We Are Klang are not just so ridiculously funny they could send an asthmatic into cardiac arrest in the first ten minutes of their Dickparty, they are, quite simply, Botox for the soul. However old or grown-up you might feel, with Klang you become almost adolescent again.”
The Scotsman

“A blast of unadulterated comedy, brilliantly delivered.”
Chortle
