Big Brother’s Bit on the Side

And sparkly shiny new BB website launched by C5

As fans of BB will know, this year, we viewers get to vote in one Wildcard housemate, and we’ll get to meet the candidates at 8pm tomorrow night on Channel 5, which is of course an hour ahead of the so-excited-I-might-wee launch of BB13 at 9pm.

However, today, we can reveal the identities of the Wildcard wannabes, who were hand-picked for the job by Bit on the Side presenter Jamie East.

And they are, from top of the picture on the left…

Name: Anthony
Age: 33

Job: Royal Mail

He says: “My friends all call me ‘weird’ and bullies have shouted: ‘Heil Hitler!’ at me. But I’m a positive creative person with a unique presence.”

Jamie East says: “He will divide the Big Brother house – and the viewers too.”

Name: Bhavesh
Age: 30

Job: Hospital receptionist

He says: “I couldn’t be gay in India. It was hard not to mince. Now I can be myself. I am honest and love confrontation.”

Jamie East says: “He isn’t afraid to speak his mind and has some seriously strong opinions.”

Name: Rebecca
Age: 19

She says: “I like a right good grub. I’ll even stuff food in my secret knickers. I’ve got more cellulite than a busted beach ball.”

Jamie East says: “She’s big, brash and ballsy. Perfect for a housemate.”

At the end of Jamie’s 8pm show, ‘phone lines – and Twitter voting, if it’s ready to rock by then – will open to vote your favourite into the house, which they’ll then join on Friday night, just as one of the launch night newbies is being evicted.

So, do any of them grab your BB fancy? I think I’ll reserve judgement until we’ve seen them in action tomorrow.

Digital Spy report today that TV presenter Emma Willis will host Channel 5’s equivalent of Big Brother’s Little Brother, which is entitled, Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.

Here’s the story from DS…

Willis will front an all-new sister show called Big Brother’s Bit On The Side. It will be scheduled around the main programme and feature a “vibrant, fast-paced and edgy take on all the developments and news from the house”.

It will include interviews with housemates, famous superfans and pop culture experts. She said: “I’m so happy that Big Brother is back on our screens! I’m such a massive fan of the show so I’m over the moon that I’ve been asked to be a part of it. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Jeff Ford, Channel 5′s director of programmes, claimed that he was “delighted” with the two appointments.

“As the Ultimate Big Brother housemate, Brian is the perfect man to be at the helm of Big Brother’s new incarnation,” said Ford.

“Emma meanwhile is a consummate professional – as well as being a self-confessed superfan. Their combined expertise and first-hand experience of the show will bring an extra dimension to Big Brother when it returns this summer.”

Celebrity Big Brother will air on Channel 5 in August. The non-celebrity edition will follow in September.

Steve Strange, Jedward, Kerry Katona and Rachel Stevens have all been linked to this year’s Celebrity Big Brother.
