Bo Bruce

Plus, X Factor Boot Camp to be in Liverpool this year, and TOWIE star to play Million Pound Drop

We’ll begin today’s look at the world of reality TV with the sad news that Bo Bruce, who of course was a finalist on the BBC’s The Voice UK, is in mourning after her mother Rosamund passed away.

As Bo’s fans will know, throughout her appearances on The Voice, she was always haunted by the knowledge that her mum, who had pancreatic cancer, was nearing the end of her life, and she dedicated her cover version of Coldplay’s hit Charlie Brown to her stricken mother.

Yesterday, Bo wrote on Facebook, “Light a candle, thousands of us, light a candle,” and a message on behalf of the singer was posted on her official website thanking fans for their support.

Poster yesterday, July 4th, it reads, “Bo’s mother Ros passed away peacefully in the night, at home, surrounded by loved ones.

“Bo would like to thank all of you for the messages of love and support, they mean so much to her… Continue reading »

Plus, finalists’ news and Will.i.am in another foot in mouth moment

Tonight is of course the final of the first series of The Voice UK, and ahead of it, it’s been revealed that Maroon 5 and Ed Sheeran, who had been billed as performing live tonight, have in fact pre-recorded their appearances.

And the Daily Star reports that when Ed and the Maroon 5 band members turned up for dress rehearsals yesterday, they dropped the bombshell that they wanted to pre-record their performances, so an audience had to be hastily rustled up from passersby!

A show insider said, “This would never happen on The X Factor.

“Simon Cowell would not allow a special guest star who’s been booked for the final to pre-record their song the day before and not be there on the night.

“The BBC struggled to get big names for the final with people such as Adele and Justin Bieber turning them down. Now the acts they did get aren’t even going to be there on the night.”

The paper adds that the “super group” performance by all four coaches has also been pre-recorded, which, given how god awful their last quartet was isn’t at all surprising… Continue reading »

And Leanne Mitchell promises she won’t “just stand there and sing a ballad” in show’s final

It’s been a jam packed week for The Voice UK’s four finalists, Tyler James, Vince Kidd, Bo Bruce and Leanne Mitchell, but of all of them, Tyler is reportedly having the most fun in the lead up to the show’s final.

And according to TV Biz, that’s because he credits the show with having saved his life, given that after his BFF Amy Winehouse was found dead in her flat last year, Tyler went on a booze binge to end all binges, and may not have come out the other side were it not for his success on The Voice.

After the triumphant moment last weekend when he heard he’d got into the show’s final – when Jaz Ellington was eliminated following the public vote – Tyler said, “I welled up. Just to know that the public had picked me to be in the final was the most amazing feeling in the world.”

He added, “I feel like I’m exaggerating when I talk about it but it’s changed my life. It could have been so much different.”

Tyler went on to say, “It’s crazy to think that not that long ago I was so depressed I got to a point where I wouldn’t even drink to be out of it — I’d drink to not be awake.

“I couldn’t be awake. I couldn’t deal with my own head. At any given moment I would just drink myself unconscious with booze and sleeping tablets.

“I didn’t want to kill myself but it could have happened so easily.”

Of Amy’s death, Tyler said, “I was at rock bottom when Amy died — she was my best friend. I didn’t know what to do with myself… Continue reading »

Plus Bo Bruce’s song tonight has special personal meaning

When Cheryl Cole sang on The X Factor in 2010, she was heavily criticised for miming when it had been advertised that she would be singing live.

Following that, her X Factor protégé Cher Lloyd angered Cheryl by hinting that she can’t sing live without auto-tuning…

So tonight, when Cheryl sings on The Voice, she’s vowed it will be totally live and that she won’t be using any form of editing to make her sound better.

An insider told The Sun, “Since then Cheryl has been working really hard on her vocals. Now she wants to sing live and prove herself as a professional.

“Everyone is supportive of her wish to sing live but just like when she was on The X Factor, her performance will be pre-recorded so there is a big safety net there.

“The show is called The Voice — the singing that they broadcast needs to be perfect.”

Kylie Minogue is also performing tonight, and last night, host Reggie Yates revealed that Ed Sheeran and Maroon 5 will sing on the show’s final… Continue reading »
