US remake of Only Fools and Horses

A US version of classic British comedy series Only Fool and Horses is said to be in the pipeline at the ABC network. The writers and producers of Happy Endings and Scrubs are working on the project.

HBO’s Boardwalk Empire was a huge success when it debuted last year; as well as receiving praise from critics, it won two Golden Globes and a strong audience.

The series is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey, during the prohibition era and is adapted from a chapter about Enoch ‘Nucky’ Johnson from Nelson Johnson’s Book, Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times and Corruption of Atlantic City.

The first episode was directed from Martin Scorsese and was the most expensive pilot produced in television history.

Starring Steve Buscemi as Nucky, the series returns for a second season later this year and we have a teaser feature from this from HBO.

The video shows us viewers what we can expect from future episodes, as well as a few teasers about what’s coming up for characters such as Nucky, Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) and the young Al Capone (Stephen Graham).

Boardwalk Empire is on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Despite airing only one episode of its new gangster series Boardwalk Empire, HBO has renewed the series for a second season.

The show, which stars Steve Buscemi in the lead role, was successful in its first outing in the States last weekend, pulling HBO’s biggest premiere audience since 2004’s Deadwood.

“Following resounding critical approval and high viewer numbers for the series’ September 19 debut, HBO has renewed Boardwalk Empire for a second season,” an HBO press release said.

“The response from the media and our viewers has been nothing short of amazing,” said HBO’s programming president Michael Lombardo.

Boardwalk Empire kicks-off here in January 2011 on Sky1.
