Brighton Beach Police

Friday 11th September 8.00pm

Continuing this week is the new series following the work of the police, coastguard and lifeguards who patrol Brighton’s world-famous beach. In the second episode, some very brave swimmers complete the pier-to-pier swim, a fire breaks out at the YMCA and a group of drunk teenagers gets out of control.

A dark cloud hangs over Brighton. A storm is brewing, but some of the town’s most fearless swimmers are determined to complete the hazardous pier-to-pier swim – a tradition dating back 73 years. Despite the protests of seafront manager Viki Miller, the intrepid swimmers take to the choppy waves. Will this hardy crew make it to the new pier, or could the endeavour spell the end of the brave bathers’ aquatic antics?

Night-time brings a storm of a different kind for Inspector Paul Betts and PC Mike Taylor, who are patrolling Brighton’s streets for disorderly behaviour. Luckily they are on hand when a fight breaks out amongst a group of drunk teenagers. With the youths losing control, the situation quickly escalates into a free-for-all. Can the put-upon cops manage to restore peace on the seaside streets?

Meanwhile, up on the promenade, PCSOs Gill Everest and Dave Hedgecock are called to a fire at the city’s YMCA. The devastating blaze could make nearly 100 Brighton residents homeless. But what caused the incident?

And life is a drag for one of Brighton’s busiest female impersonators, Davina Sparkle, as he gets ready for a night on the tiles. The glittering ‘goddess’ has the daunting task of entertaining 300 hen-party guests. With expectations running high at the UK’s hen-night capital, Dave had better be on form…
