Fans of Liverpool soap Brookside may remember the character Terry Sullivan, who was played by Brian Regan. He’s pictured above on the right.

He was the character who spawned the catchphrase “Calm down, calm down!” He was on the show for 14 years.

However, today, the Daily Mirror reports that Regan has been “quizzed by murder detectives” who are investigating the shooting in a Liverpool street of a 44 year old Iranian, Bahman Faraji.

Faraji was gunned down outside a pub last Thursday, and 53 year old Regan was taken by police to a local station on Friday for questioning. The paper adds that a 48 year old woman was also questioned.

The article goes on to say, “Merseyside Police refused to comment yesterday but confirmed that two people had been arrested and later bailed.”

It seems that Faraji, who moved to Liverpool 15 years ago, was “well connected in the city’s underworld.” He died after being shot in the face as he left the Belgrave pub in Aigburth.

Two witness report that they saw the gunman leave the scene “with a shotgun tucked under his arm.”
