Emma Willis has been confirmed as the new presenter of Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother.

The former Bit on the Side presenter will take control of the main show this year, replacing Brian Dowling.

“I am thrilled to have been offered this job. I’m a fan first and foremost so to be able to front the show is going to be amazing. Roll on the summer!” said Willis.

Channel 5′s director of programmes Ben Frow said: “Emma is a natural on screen, she’s made the spinoff show her own and now the time is totally right for her to step up. If you’re not sick of Speidi just yet then Channel 5 have a show you may be interested in.

The Celebrity Big Brother villains will feature in a one-off special called Speidi: Scandal, Secrets & Surgery set for broadcast on Monday, February 18 at 10pm.

The hour-long special will tell the story of the pair – Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt – who became infamous in the US after their stint on MTV reality series The Hills.

Fresh from her stint on Celebrity Big Brother, Gillian Taylforth has landed a new role on Hollyoaks.

The former EastEnder, who played Kathy Beale for 15 years, will play a character called Sandy Roscoe who is the matriarch of a family of five boys who move into the village.

She left EastEnders in 2000 but it took six more years for her character to be killed off the show.

Taylforth placed eighth on Celebrity Big Brother behind eventual winner Rylan Clark and the infamous American pairing, Speidi. Continue reading »

Speidi mock Ofcom

Heidi and Spencer have mocked Ofcom for investigating their behaviour in the Celebrity Big Brother house. 35 complaints were submitted from viewers who argued that their tactics on the show amounted to bullying.

BBC to live stream Glastonbury

The BBC has announced plans to live stream the bands playing at Glastonbury this summer. The corporation expects some 50% of viewers to tune in on their mobile devices.

Book deal for Rylan Clarke?

Celebrity Big Brother winner Rylan Clark is said to be looking into an autobiography deal.Literary agent Andrew Lownie said: “People like Rylan and are interested in him,” he explained. “They want to know more and there’s probably a lot about him that hasn’t speared yet. His advance could be anything from £5,000 to £500,000 – it depends on the story, the timing and who’s bidding.”

Entourage movie greenlit

Warner Bros. has greenlit a movie version of Entourage. The original cast are currently negotiating deal to reprise their roles. Continue reading »

Tricia Penrose has said that the key to Celebrity Big Brother’s entertainment value this year is Speidi.

The actress was evicted from the house last night alongside Frankie Dettori and told Brian Dowling that Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag are keeping the show from being “boring”.

When asked why she thought the public continued to vote for them, she said: “Drama. Without them it would be boring. We didn’t do much. It was them, they’re the drama queens. They made it so difficult.”

Movie for Mrs Brown’s Boys

Mrs Brown’s Boys actor Brendan O’Carroll confirmed at last night’s National Television Awards that a movie based on the series is going ahead. “Once we do the movie this year – which we start shooting in September, it’s called Mrs Brown D’Movie, and that should be released in June of next year to compete with the World Cup – once we’ve finished that, there may be a possibility of a fourth series,” he said.

Pulver open to Sherlock return

Lara Pulver has said that she is open to a return to Sherlock as Irene Adler. “The response [to my Sherlock show] has been quite enormous, to be honest,” she said. “If the potential is there for the character to return [I'd come back].”

Three added to Black Mirror

One of the Celebrity Big Brother contestants has been allowed out of the house temporarily.

The whole idea behind Big Brother is that the contestants aren’t allowed to leave the house so why has Rylan Clark been allowed to?

Evicted contestant Gillian Taylforth confirmed on The Wright Stuff this morning that Clark was allowed out of the house in order to rehearse for the upcoming X Factor live tour.
