Jackson exits MasterChef

Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson has exited Celebrity MasterChef in the first episode of Knockout Week. The athlete was narrowly beaten by Christine Hamilton and Neil Stuke on the BBC One show. Hamilton and Stuke will compete against Lisa Faulkner, Dick Strawbridge and Chris Walker for the title.

Celebrity MasterChef pulls 4.26m

BBC One’s Celebrity MasterChef drew an audience of 4.26 million viewers on Wednesday night, giving it a 20% audience share in the 8pm hour slot. New Channel 4 show Newlyweds pulled in 2.3 million in the 9pm hour.

Webb to host new Channel 4 comedy

Robert Webb will host a new comedy show for Channel 4 which will look at social networking sites and other online sources. The series will be entitled Robert’s Web and will screen alongside Peep Show next year.

BBC Three pilots to screen online

Three BBC pilots will screen online a week before they hit TV screens to allow fans to get in early. Neil Morrissey’s Inn Mates, The Klang Show and The Adventures of Daniel will all be available to watch on the BBC Three blog, with Inn Mates online now.

Rickitt returns to UK screens

Ex-Coronation Street actor Adam Rickitt will return to British screens this August in kiwi soap Shortland Street. Living will be screening the show weeknights starting from where Rickitt’s character Kieran entered the soap.

BBC drama The Deep opens to 5m

New BBC drama series The Deep debuted to an audience of just under 5 million on Tuesday night. The BBC One series, which stars James Nesbitt and Minnie Driver, averaged 4.98 million in the 9pm hour slot.

MasterChef may adopt Aussie format

The success of the reformatted MasterChef Australia could influence the way MasterChef plays out in The UK. Gregg Wallace has said that the original UK version could take on some of the aspects of the Australian version given the phenomenal success it has had down under.

Colm Meaney signs on for western drama

Colm Meaney has signed on for a role in period drama Hell on Wheels. Meaney will play a businessman by the name of Thomas ‘Doc’ Durant who is determined to make his fortune building the transcontinental railroad. The actor will join Anson Mount, Dominique McElligott and Common on the cast.

Sherlock pulls 6.4 million

The second episode of BBC One’s new drama series Sherlock drew an audience of 6.4 million on Sunday night, down 610k on the premiere episode. The episode entitled The Blind Banker took an audience share of 25.6% in the 8.30pm – 10pm slot.

Macey leaves Celebrity MasterChef

Dean Macey has exited the MasterChef kitchen in the quarter-finals of the BBC One show. Macey, up against fellow celebrities Lisa Faulkner, Chris Walker and Dick Strawbridge, failed to convince the judges he was talented enough to advance to the next stage.

Delita exits Top Model

Britain’s Next Top Model has said goodbye to Delita Cole after the 18-year-old from Liverpool failed to impress the judges enough to send her through. Cole’s effort in the chocolate photo shoot and Beyonce fragrance commercial wasn’t up to Top Model standard and the judges sent her home.

Elliott Gould to guest on CSI

Veteran actor Elliott Gould has signed on to appear in crime series CSI in a guest role. The actor will take on the role of a casino mogul who runs in to the CSI team after his casino becomes a crime scene.

Sky1 orders more Strike Back

Sky1 has ordered another season of Strike Back, the action series starring Richard Armitage. The actor will reprise his role for ten more episodes in the second season which is expected to air late 2011.

Former X Factor finalist join DSB super-group

Former X Factor finalist Phoebe and Tita Lau have joined the Don’t Stop Believing super-group which adds five new members each week. The pair were a part of the 2008 X Factor in which they were half of the all-girl group Girlband.

TV personalities Lisa Faulkner and Chris Walker have advanced to the quarter finals of Celebrity MasterChef after impressing the judges. John Torode and Greg Wallace selected the pair ahead of Danielle Lloyd, Mark Little and Mark Chapman.

Macey and Strawbridge advance in MasterChef

Athlete Dean Macey and TV presenter Dick Strawbridge have advanced through from their heats in the latest series of Celebrity MasterChef. The pair impressed judges John Torode and Greg Wallace enough to put them through, beating out fellow contestants Marcus Patrick, Kim Mazelle and Jennie Bond.

Prescott joins The One Show

John Prescott’s wife Pauline has officially joined The One Show team as a regular reporter for the BBC One show. Prescott will front reports and features when the new-look show returns in August.

X Factor upgrade

Mentors on this year’s X Factor will select from eight acts rather than six during the Judges’ House phase of the competition. ITV has confirmed the change as well that upping of the limit for the boys’ and girls’ categories to the age of 28.

Gavin and Stacy actress developing Welsh-set series

Gavin and Stacey star Ruth Jones has joined the new Sky1 comedy series Stella. The show, which is being written by the actress, will be set in the Welsh countryside.

Fletcher eliminated from MasterChef

Actress Alex Fletcher has been voted off Celebrity MasterChef after the first quarter final. The actress didn’t do enough to impress hosts Greg Wallace and John Torode and the guest judges and has been forced to exit the BBC One show.

Double elimination on Top Model

Two contestants were eliminated from Britain’s Next Top Model in last night’s episode with both Susan Loughnane and Harleen Nottay heading home. The pair failed to impress in the two tasks set on the show which were casting shoots for agencies and an anti-bullying campaign.

New Big Brother favourite

Big Brother’s John James has been installed as the new favourite to take out the 2010 competition according to bookmakers Paddy Power. The Australian is currently sitting at odds of 5/2 to win the show, replacing Josie as the front-runner.
