The BBC has reportedly got a little grumpy at rivals ITV for re-scheduling Wednesday night’s episode of Coronation Street in order for it to run directly before the National television Awards.

With voting remaining open for the ‘Most Popular Serial Drama’ throughout the awards telecast, the BBC has accused ITV of playing dirty.

They believe that due to ITV’s scheduling, Coronation Street would remain in the minds of the audience as they watched the awards and voted.

ITV denied any foul play, saying that audiences expect to see Coronation Street on Wednesday evenings. Continue reading »

Helen Flanagan is complaining… again.

The former Coronation Street actress and one-time I’m A Celebrity contestant has said she was “laughed at” on the set of the ITV soap by the cast and crew.

“I felt people were taking the mickey out of me. I felt Rosie had become a cartoon character and I wasn’t being taken seriously,” she told the Daily Mail.

“At times, when I was asked to wear silly costumes, I felt a bit degraded and demoralised and there were times when I ran off set because I couldn’t stand it anymore.” Continue reading »

Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall has said he will attempt to emulate the late Bill Tarmey and stay on the series for as long as possible.

The Salford-born actor, who has played Tyrone Dobbs for 15 years, said he looked up to Tarmey (Jack Duckworth) and would love to stay on the show as long as he did.

“I’m starting my 15th year, which just feels crazy to me. Bill desperately wanted to get to 30 years and, in the end I think he did 31,” he said.

“And recently, I’ve started to realise that I’d quite like to do 31 years and emulate Bill Tarmey. I don’t think I’ve any chance of catching Bill Roache – I don’t think they’d have me that long, to be honest. But if I could get to those years of service that Bill Tarmey, then I’d be thrilled.” Continue reading »

Former Coronation Street actress Sophiya Haque has passed away at the age of 41.

A talented singer, dancer, TV presenter and actress, Haque was diagnosed with cancer just two weeks ago and passed away on Wednesday evening.

She had been playing the role of Sylvia in Privates on Parade on the West End in London but will be known to Coronation Street fans as Rovers barmaid Poppy Morales. Continue reading »
