Cougar Town

Good news for fans of American comedy with word today that ABC in the US has renewed Modern Family, Cougar Town and The Middle for new seasons.

The multi Emmy award-winning Modern Family has been given a third season alongside thirds for both Cougar Town and The Middle.

Jennifer Aniston has been confirmed to visit Cougar Town in the show’s second season.

The actress will reunite with fellow Friends star Courtney Cox on the comedy series, with a guest role planned for at least one episode.

Aniston will play Jules’ (Cox) psychiatrist Bonnie on the show, a similar guest role to which Friends actress Lisa Kudrow took on in season one, where she played a Jules’ dermatologist.

“[She’s] kind of a get-too-involved-in-her-life-type of therapist,” said series creator Bill Lawrence. “Those guys are so close in real life they kind of do that for each other anyway. Bonnie has the life Jules wishes she has.”

Aniston has signed on for one episode, but Lawrence says the role could be expanded.

“We’re very intentionally implying that it’s a therapist Courteney has been using for a while, and we’re certainly not going to make it like they’ll never see each other again,” he said. “So I’m crossing my fingers that if she has a good time it’ll happen again.”

This will mark the first time the pair have worked together since Cox’s last TV project Dirt.

The creator of new comedy Cougar Town is planning to bring at least one character from Scrubs to the show’s second season.

Bill Lawrence, who worked on Scrubs prior to the creation of Cougar Town, has confirmed at least one Scrubs cast member will appear on the upcoming season.

“I promise you either Sarah Chalke, Zach Braff, John C. McGinley, Donald Faison or Judy Reyes will be on the show this year,” Lawrence told E!.

A reunion between current Cougar Town actress Christa Miller and Scrubs star John C. McGinley, who played husband and wife Jordan and Perry on Scrubs, is a possibility with Lawrence saying “I think enough time has past that they’re not husband and wife anymore”.

While remaining tight-lipped about exactly who will appear, Lawrence hopes several of the former Scrubs cast members will take up his offer to appear.

However, he has ruled out Neil Flynn, who played the Janitor, after the actor took up a job on new comedy The Middle.

“Neil Flynn … betrayed me and took another job on the same network,” Lawrence joked.

These new episodes see Jules ruing the day when her ex and Grayson become friends (which was at her behest initially) and Josh tells her that he’s head over heels about her.

That can only mean one thing.

Someone is going to get dumped. Miaow! All the fun of the fair then, eh?

Anyway, here’s a sneak peak at the newest episode, just in case you can’t possibly wait to get your kicks!
