Dannii Minogue: Style Queen

Wednesday, 18 August 2010, 9:00PM – 10:00PM on ITV2

FINAL EPISODE

Dannii Minogue: Style Queen, will give viewers behind the scenes access with TV star Dannii Minogue, as she allows cameras access in the run up to her dream business at the same time juggling all the other important elements in her life; TV, music, red-carpet events, modelling, writing her autobiography, her boyfriend Kris, travelling between London and Australia for Australia’s Got Talent ” and her most important job ” her impending motherhood.

In the final episode of the series, Dannii headed back to Melbourne and was busy in her judging role on Australia’s Got Talent as well as writing her autobiography with friend Terry Ronald. Having admitted that it’s been a ‘life changing’ year, Dannii now felt it was time to put pen to paper and had fun taking Terry through some of her childhood antics, she said: “It was so much fun doing the catch up bit in Australia, driving past my primary school and the house we used to live, ‘and this is where my sister got caught jumping out the front window.’”

With some of the world’s big known stores clambering to sell Project D, Dannii headed to one of Australia’s top department stores who would be stocking her first collection. But work was soon put to one side, when she is pulled off course by a ‘50% off’ sale.

Dannii said: “Tabitha and I are definitely drawn to colour but then she would put in something kooky like a gum ball machine, a pin ball machine or a jumpy castle and I don’t know if I can stop her doing that! But you know what? There is method in her madness; probably everyone will come to our section.”

With a break from filming ‘Australia’s Got Talent,’ Dannii and Kris headed back to London and flew straight into a media storm – speculation of her return to The X Factor is front-page news and everyone was desperate to know what was happening.

A shocked Dannii said: “Back in London I wasn’t expecting any of that on arrival. It’s The X Factor – they’re saying are you coming back on the show. It’s a bit of a guessing game for me at the moment; bit of an open conversation but obviously there’s so much of the show that I won’t be able to do. It’s got to be fair on the contestants because you’re not just judging, you’re mentoring, and then fair on us because we’ll be a family by then. We’ll see if we can find a way to make it work.”

Whilst back in the UK it was a busy three weeks for Dannii before she headed back to Australia to give birth to her first child. Dannii and her best friend and business partner Tabitha unveiled their perfume, which they would sell alongside their clothing range; to the UK’s top beauty editors. It was their first foray into the world of perfume and they just hope they’ve got it right.

Dannii had a photo shoot for the front cover of her autobiography ” but there’s a little problem. By the time the book is on the shelves, the baby will be born – so the stylist needed to find a way to conceal the bump, which is easier said than done! Kris also popped in to say goodbye before he headed back to Melbourne and had time for a quick family photo with Dannii and the bump.

It’s the day Dannii and Tabitha had been working towards for the last six months – the worldwide launch of their clothing label, Project D. With the press invited, along one hundred lucky fans who have won tickets to get a first glimpse of the dresses. It’s the moment of truth for the collection and Tabitha was feeling sick with nerves.

Ahead of the launch Dannii admitted, “I miss Kris, wishing he was here for this. Setting up Project D has taken up so many hours and that’s what takes me away from him and we can’t spend time together because I have to get stuff done so I wish he was here…. Its so rewarding to see the clothes in store, there were times when I didn’t think we’d get here.”

Tabitha added: “I just feel like I might puke, this is Dannii’s kind of territory, this is home ground for her for me its all brand new and I have no idea what’s going to happen. My hearts beating so fast, my palms are so sweaty, I’m literally dripping sweat!”

The day has come when Dannii headed back to Australia to prepare for the birth. The next time she’ll be in London she’ll be a mum, so it’s an emotional farewell. She said; “The last six months have been an absolute whirlwind, it’s just been full on. I guess probably the busiest time of my life.

“If somebody had said to me a couple of years ago even one of these things is going to happen, being on an M&S billboard, writing an autobiography, recording new music, launching a fashion range, creating a fragrance, having a baby. Just one of them I would have thought you’re mad, it’s never going to happen. Six months working with Tabs has been absolutely brilliant; our only defence mechanism is to laugh. I’ve learnt a lot from her. I’ve got Kris there who I absolutely adore, and I don’t think any of this would have happened without him and I don’t think I would cope with the pressure without him either. I think just being really, really happy attracts good things to you. There might be wedding bells I don’t know, there’s definitely too much on this year already. I can’t get my head around the fact that I’m going to be a mum, I absolutely can’t. Its just going to be that explosive moment where you just go ‘wow this little person’s arrived.’”

Tonight followed Dannii as she filmed her first commercial for high street chain Marks & Spencer. Nearly half way through her pregnancy the TV star admitted, “The whole feel of the commercial is there are different girls, different shapes, sizes doing different stuff and I’m the pregnant one!”

Joined by boyfriend Kris who was modelling for the men’s campaign, the pair took advantage of their exotic surroundings and headed off to a game reserve for a mini break which included a trip on safari. With the wildlife only inches away from their vehicle Dannii joked to a nervous Kris, “I thought you said I was the scariest thing in your life!”

Back in London and its make or break for Project D as Dannii and business partner Tabitha met with some of the UK’s leading fashion buyers as they showcased their collection. An anxious Dannii admitted, “Today’s so crucial. This is what we’ve been working for since the idea for Project D – all the months of tolling away and really working hard on these samples. This is make or break, this is where we sell it or we don’t.”

Dannii and Tabitha embraced the glamour and attended the Elle Style Awards. With rumours that Dannii may receive one of the coveted accolades, the style icon revealed “I’m nervous about tonight. I’m not good at this. I can do anything else, I can stand in front of audiences, I can do the X Factor in front of half the country ” accept an award and I just fall to pieces.”

Whilst Tabitha attempted to calm her friend’s nerves and joked, “I’m nervous, it’s my first time getting out of a car into paparazzi I’m hoping I don’t show my Spanx!”

As well as winning the award for Most Stylish TV Star, Dannii also received a welcomed surprised as big sister Kylie was on hand to present the award to her. A thrilled Dannii said, “I was just so glad to see her when I walked up because I was nervous and that kind of eased it off a little bit ” It’s nice to have that moment together. She’s really proud of me, it’s really nice we’re in the same country at the same event where she could present it to me and get to show everyone that side. We’re kind of private and we’ve always tried to keep our work stuff very separate so there’s not many times when we are together, but behind closed doors we share everything.”

However, fellow guest Piers Morgan was quick to take the credit for Dannii’s recent announcement and joked “I effectively made Dannii Minogue pregnant because you may recall I interviewed her for my Life Stories show and asked her; do you think you may want to have children soon, and when it was announced she was pregnant and three months pregnant I got my diary out and realised it was three months to the day since my interview!”

Before she headed off to film Australia’s Got Talent, Dannii made one final visit to cheer on former X factor contestants Stacey Solomon and Lucie Jones as they performed on the X Factor tour.

Fellow mum, Stacy was on hand to offer advice and admitted “Its amazing seeing Dannii ‘cause knowing that she came with us through the whole show and to see when we’ve carried on, it’s the nicest thing ever. I’m actually annoyed at how skinny she is because let me tell you now I was a beast when I was that pregnant!”

Episode One:

Dannii Minogue: Style Queen, will give viewers behind the scenes access with TV star Dannii Minogue, as she allowed cameras access in the run up to her dream business at the same time juggling all the other important elements in her life; TV, music, red-carpet events, modelling, writing her autobiography, her boyfriend Kris, travelling between London and Australia for Australia’s Got Talent ” and her most important job ” her impending motherhood.

In the first episode of this three part series, Dannii along with business partner and best friend Tabitha Somerset Webb get ready to launch their brand new fashion range, Project D. With seven gowns prepared for their first collection, the pair eagerly await the arrival of their samples. Dannii admitted, “This is a dream come true for me, I’ve always loved fashion and there’s no-one I’d rather be working with.”

With Christmas looming, Dannii and boyfriend Kris headed to Melbourne to catch up with friends and family. The camera followed Dannii as she headed to close friends and fashion designers Jacob Luppino and Anthony Pittorino (aka J’Aton Couture) for a dinner party and the chance for them all to watch her appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, which was airing that night for the first time in Australia.

Back in the UK, Tabitha continues to work on their fashion venture and faces one of her toughest challenges. The sample dresses were due from China and had an important viewing scheduled with fashion bible ‘Vogue’ for the same day. With time ticking, and their deadline with the legendary magazine looming, Tabitha discovered that the dresses had been delivered to the wrong address.

As Dannii and Kris headed back to the UK, they announced the news that they are expecting their first child and as they touch down in London are greeted by a frenzy of photographers all after a first glimpse of the mum to be. A shocked Dannii said, “I’ve never experienced anything like that before, that was quite a welcome back to London. It was the only time you could use that line ‘excuse me a pregnant lady coming through’ which was making me laugh.”

During their trip back from the airport to their UK home, Dannii and Kris were soon talking baby names and the TV star admitted, “we don’t know if it’s a boy or girl, we just have to choose both, someone said call the baby Kristelle, that’s a mix of Kris and Danielle” and then joked “it sounds like a perfume or something!”

After a seven year break from making records (Neon Nights, Top 10 in March 2003), Dannii decided its now time to head back into the studio, but admitted that she’s had her reservations: “Its been pushed back to my agenda for a long time. I think since X Factor came on the scene I’ve been heavily involved in the mentoring of other people and helping their music career. It’s kind of scary for me today because it’s like getting back on the horse. I think I’ve copped quite a bit of flack over the year’s for the music, “it’s not been as good as our sister’s or it’s not charted this or it should have done that” but I’ve loved it and enjoyed it and I’ve learnt a lot. I’ve got to get some confidence with it and right now I don’t have that.”

After a successful meeting with her music team, Dannii arranged a meeting former X factor contestant Ruth Lorenzo who has since moved into song writing and recording her own album. Ruth and her former mentor headed into the studio to record one of Ruth’s songs ‘Cos Your Beautiful’, which Dannii has fallen in love with.

Dannii was keen to see Tabitha and find out what’s been happening whilst she’s been away. After the delay with the sample dresses, Tabitha informs a relieved Dannii that the dresses did make it to Vogue and they are keen to feature four of the dresses and an interview with the pair about their collaboration.

Its back to the TV studio and this time Dannii is hosting her own show, Ultimate Movie Toons for ITV1. Whilst the recording runs smoothly, behind the scenes Dannii faced a dilemma with her dress whilst also feeling under the weather. But she received a welcomed surprise as former X Factor contestants Lucie Jones and Rachel Adadeji dropped by the studio to wish her luck.
