When a young nun is found dead in her smoke-filled bedroom, DI Richard Poole and his team are soon on the scene.

What seems like a tragic accident caused by a lit cigarette soon turns into a murder investigation when Richard deduces that the nun didn’t smoke the cigarette that killed her. But with her room locked from the inside, how could anyone else from the convent have committed the crime?

There’s no shortage of suspects, including other nuns, a priest and the mother superior, as well as a mysterious ‘phantom nun’ who nobody can identify. Or could the case be connected to the holy spring on the grounds of the convent, which is being promoted by an unscrupulous PR man? Will Richard overcome his scepticism – as well as a seemingly irrational fear of nuns – to help the team get to the bottom of the perplexing case?

DI Richard Poole is played by Ben Miller, Camille Bordey by Sara Martins, Dwayne Myers by Danny John-Jules, Fidel Best by Gary Carr, Catherine by Elizabeth Bourgine, Father John by Kenneth Cranham, Sister Anne by Gemma Jones, Sister Marguerite by Rowena King, Daryl Dexter by Patrick Baladi and Laura Masters by Caroline Langrishe.

Ep 2/8

9:00pm Tuesday 8 January on BBC ONE

The quintessentially English detective Richard Poole is back, returning with his investigative team to solve more murder mysteries on the idyllic Caribbean island of Saint Marie, in a brand new series of Death In Paradise.

DI Poole’s learning to cope with the tropical climate and laid-back atmosphere of Saint Marie, but every day still presents a challenge for the traditional detective. When the owner of a former sugar plantation, Roger Seymour, is discovered with a machete in his back, Poole and his team have a seemingly impossible case to solve.

Despite countless suspects, the team struggle to pinpoint the murderer, as they all have seemingly cast iron alibis – and many were together when the murder took place. Was it a disgruntled worker with a grudge? Was Roger’s alcoholic ex-wife, Nicole in an alliance with his adopted nephew, Harry? Or does Roger’s new, and much younger, girlfriend have something to hide?

The team soon realise that the history of the plantation is just as key to completing the puzzle, but with the island celebrating the festival of love, Erzulie, Saint Marie seems to be bringing out the unexpected in everyone – not least Richard and Camille…

DI Richard Poole is played by Ben Miller, Camille Bordey by Sara Martins, Dwayne Myers by Danny John-Jules, Fidel Best by Gary Carr, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson by Don Warrington, Roger Seymour by James Cosmo, Harry Seymour by Tom Ward, Nicole Seymour by Stephanie Beacham and Kim Neville by Estella Daniels.

Ep 8/8

9:00pm Tuesday 6 December on BBC ONE

Ben Miller and Sara Martins star in the final episode of Death in Paradise, written by Robert Thorogood.

Carnival comes to Saint-Marie but the high spirits don’t last long as a team outing to see Dwayne’s favourite band ends abruptly when the lead singer Solly is murdered. Richard and the team quickly establish Solly wasn’t a popular member of the band, partly due to the rigmarole he insisted on going through before each performance – which included 15 minutes of ‘alone time’ in a coffin before it emerged on stage with him ‘rising from the dead’.

Richard and Camille are surprised to discover Solly’s murdered body was arranged with his arms in a position of repose – an act of kindness, even love – though the insight doesn’t go as far as to explain why the murder weapon was also left behind.

With everybody close to Solly having an alibi at the time of his death ?- the window of opportunity narrowed to his 15 minutes of alone time during which the band, Eddie the bassist, Renward the keyboard player, Curtis the lead guitarist and Avita were enjoying backstage drinks ?- Richard focuses on the mystery girl who was seen on a few occasions with Solly before the concert and on the night of the murder itself…

DI Richard Poole is played by Ben Miller, Camille Bordey by Sara Martins, Dwayne Myers by Danny John-Jules, Fidel Best by Gary Carr, Solly by Johann Myers, Eddie by Keith Duffy, Renward by Robbie Gee, Curtis by Ray Fearon and Avita by Sarita Choudhury.

When Benjamin is still not back after a couple of hours, Mark raises the alarm with Phil – and helped by Phil’s wife, Alex Owen, they search the water. Alex finds Benjamin’s dead body in unusually shallow waters. This isn’t the only thing that doesn’t make sense, as Dwayne notices odd markings on Benjamin’s chest.

When he then tests Benjamin’s air gauge and discovers the tank is still full of air it’s clear that it must be murder.

Dwayne and Fidel begin their investigation but, as if their job wasn’t tough enough with the crime scene the open sea, they then have to contend with holidaying British cop DS Angela Young, who Commissioner Selwyn Patterson reveals will be helping out whilst Richard and Camille are absent.

Angela deduces Phil is the killer but Dwayne and Fidel aren’t convinced and head to Richard’s bungalow – only to discover they’ve both been giving him information about the case. With Richard still delirious will this be the one case he can’t crack?
