Action-packed documentary series following the work of emergency bike crews. In this instalment, Mark Hayes is called to a shooting, Roy Keyes drags a bike from a pond, a Birmingham school headmaster falls ill, and two girls need urgent attention after being hit on a pedestrian crossing. Celebrated biker and adventurer Charlie Boorman narrates the action. Birmingham’s paramedic bikers deal with a wide range of medical emergencies, ranging from car crashes to heart attacks. Footage of the medics between calls captures intimate moments during their off-duty times. The Essex police bike squad is about to be doubled to 18 officers. ‘Emergency Bikers’ features key operational events undertaken by the squad, including the policing of mass biker rallies. On the other end of the spectrum, undercover operations are captured with the help of the team’s special covert bike. The series also follows the high-speed training courses undertaken by new recruits and highlights the array of skills needed to become a police biker. In this instalment, biker paramedic Mark Hayes is called to a shooting, while PC Roy Keyes finds himself fishing a bike out of a pond after a rider loses control. Chest pains turn into something more serious for a Birmingham school headmaster, and two girls are hit on a pedestrian crossing yards from their home. Elsewhere, PC Ray Jeffery explains how he knows only too well why bikers need to keep out of trouble on the roads.
