Fat Families

In January 2010, Fat Families saw straight-talking fat loss expert Steve Miller move into the homes of some of Britain’s fattest families and use a range of shock tactics in a bid to help them lose weight before it was too late. But did the “massive fatties” manage to change their lives for good? Or are they back on their “lard arses” and piling on the pounds?

Find out in FAT FAMILIES SECOND HELPINGS, TX Wednesday 9th June at 8pm on Sky1 HD and Sky1, where the families from series one are re-visited to catch up on their progress.

When Steve began his fat-fighting mission, he soon discovered that a world of entrenched habits and over-large portions had left the families suffering with health problems including diabetes, asthma, and sleep apnoea. His no-nonsense approach and tough love strategy forced many of the families to confront their food demons and admit they had a serious problem.

But what happened when the cameras stopped rolling and Steve wasn’t there to hold their hands? Has he managed to change their lives for the better? FAT FAMILIES SECOND HELPINGS goes undercover with secret filming to see exactly what the families get up to when they think no one is watching. If any of the families have fallen off the wagon Steve will be ready to put them back through their paces to banish their wobbly bits forever.

Who could forget Tarnya Cuff? At 33 stone she was consuming 5,000 calories a day and couldn’t walk down more than two aisles of her local supermarket unaided. Or the Jeapes family, Ron and his three sons, who all needed to lose weight and were on the look out for love. Weight loss was especially important for the youngest of the Jeapes clan who needed to slim down in order to have a life saving operation.

Get ready for more drama in FAT FAMILIES SECOND HELPINGS from tempers and tantrums, to the touching renewal of wedding vows. Steve will see the families undertaking a host of hilarious and fun activities including assault courses, mountain biking and horse riding to keep them on track to a fitter and fuller life.

Steve Miller commented: “I was so proud of all of the families’ hard work and dedication in season one. But the real test will be if they have managed to keep the weight off and continue living a healthy lifestyle. I won’t stand for any excuses and expect these ‘fatties’ to have turned into ‘fitties.’”

Celia Taylor, Head of Features and Factual, Sky1 HD, Sky1, Sky2 and Sky3 commented: “It’s brought a lump to my throat to see how far our Fat Families have come and what they have achieved. I’m so proud of them. Steve has done a brilliant job.”

Steve Miller is a highly respected and hugely successful clinical hypnotherapist, motivational trainer, coach and author. His recent books, including Get Off Your Arse And Lose Weight, and Get Off Your Arse And Grab That New Job!, reflect this no-nonsense approach.  Steve has won his own battle of the bulge, he used to be three stone overweight but using his hard-line approach he has slimmed down to a healthy size. No one is better equipped to help our families attack the fat. His tough-love but genuine and caring approach made Fat Families a hit with viewers and critics alike, with the Metro calling it “Telly more addictive than those purple Quality Street.”
