Fiona Phillips

Fiona Phillips may well be a flawed person who has done things so toe-curling that club-foot admissions into hospitals went up tenfold… but really, she seems like a sweet enough human.

The kind of cheery face that television tends to like.

Well, with that, she has signed up to host a new ITV chatshow.

In the new show, Phillips will discuss three topical issues every day with panellists Gloria Hunniford, Mark Durden-Smith, Andrea McLean and Carole Smillie in a show that doesn’t sound like Loose Women at all.

The live show will also feature opinions from the public and members of the audience, while celebrity guests who champion a particular cause will be invited to discuss it.

Of course, Phillips previously hosted GMTV for 12 years, so the live studio environment won’t phase her at all.

She returned to morning television on the channel today to cover for Lorraine Kelly, who is taking her summer break.
