Bravo Company anxiously awaits their next orders. After Alpha Company shells town Ar Rifa, Lt. Col. Ferrando tells the squad to push ahead 40 kilometres and capture an airstrip controlled by Iraq’s Republican Guard and defended by tanks. Later, Bravo are ordered to trek through the night and treat all Iraqis as hostile. Trombley takes the order to heart and shoots at two Iraqi boys and their camels.

Bravo is told to consider any Iraqi carrying a weapon as hostile and heads north towards Nasiriyah, where Alpha Company is skirmishing at a bridge outside the city. Ferrando and the squad cross the Euphrates the next night and later go north to Mesopotamia – the “Cradle of Civilisation” – but they are behind other companies because of a wrong turn. The platoon finally gets “lit up” in a violent but successful skirmish in Al Gharraf, during which Trombley scores his first kill…

From the creators of The Wire , comes Generation Kill , a critically-acclaimed seven-part mini-series from HBO Films based on the award-winning book by Rolling Stone reporter Evan Wright. Wright was embedded with the 1st Recon Marines during the first wave of the American-led assault on Baghdad in 2003, and recorded his shared experiences with the soldiers. In the first episode, the U.S. First Recon Marines prepare to invade Iraq as the ‘tip of the spear’ for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The squad are introduced to a writer from Rolling Stone magazine and finally break camp and cross the northern border into Iraq to an uncertain future.
