E4 teen series Skins has been named as the most unrealistic portrayal of student life on TV by a recent poll.

The drama was voted the by 67% of those polled in the MyVoucherCodes survey to be the least realistic of all teen shows ahead of the likes of Hollyoaks and Gossip Girl which places second and third.

The director of the website, Mark Pearson, said: “The fact that Skins was considered the most unrealistic was no surprise as sixth formers don’t take that many drugs and have that much sex, or at least you would hope.

“I can definitely agree that American TV shows and films that feature students are unrealistic because they are usually played by people in their 30s!”

Skins, which has just been greenlit for a movie, supposedly pales in comparison to the Inbetweeners which was voted the most realistic portrayal of teens.

Voters claimed The Inbetweeners reminds them of “their time with friends at school”.

Cheryl + Ed

Cheryl Cole is certainly in demand; while her private life has suffered over the last few years her professional career and star status is soaring.

Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick is the latest fan who has declared adoration for the Geordie lass,  “I would like to meet Cheryl, I’d give her a hip bump – there’s something about the soft Geordie accent on a girl that I really, really like.”

The actor who plays the role of bad boy Chuck Bass in the ITV2 series thinks she should cameo on the show alongside American actors Blake Lively and Leighton Meester,  “My dad’s from the north east of England so if Cheryl Cole was to make an appearance on our show, it would be great. I could talk to her about the amount of times I’ve been up to the north east.”

Cole might have a disadvantage to doing so as Weswick admits the American audience would struggle to understand her accent, “(they)probably wouldn’t understand Cheryl Cole. I don’t think they understood any of the movie Trainspotting, so they could struggle. We’d have to work something out.”

Don’t worry Chezza, if Simon Cowell is taking you to America for the American Xfactor, we’re sure they’ll have got used to the accent by then.

Gossip Girl is shown on ITV2, and is also available on iTunes.

The international hit series about the social lives of fast living and wealthy students in New York starring Chace Crawford and British actor Ed Westwick, will launch on October 7th at 8pm.
