There’s dramatic news this morning about the possible fate of EastEnders characters Lauren and Joey Branning – who are of course cousins and set to fall in love with each other this autumn – because we’ll be left wondering if they manage to survive after a car they’re in crashes and explodes!

However, as the Daily Mail reports, because the car explodes and bursts into flames soon after the couple crash into a shop front, it isn’t overly likely that they’ll survive.

The paper adds, “The misbehaving teenager, played by 19-year-old Jacqueline Jossa, steals her sinister uncle’s car and takes her cousin Joey for a spin before losing control and smashing it into the front window of BettaSave.”

Of the plotline, as well as Lauren and Joey’s forbidden romance, a show insider said, “This is going to be a huge storyline across the autumn. Lauren hits the booze and shows her vulnerable side to Joey.

“He’s there for her and feels very protective… Continue reading »

Which comes as something of a surprise since in 2010, the show won an award for the accuracy of its depiction of the mental illness.

However, the Sun reports that around 100 people have complained to the BBC that Jean is being portrayed as “crazy”.

One Twitter fan said, “Seriously disgusted and p****d off at the way EastEnders is portraying Jean as a crazy person when she is just bipolar.”

A spokesman for the show said, “We have received a total of 107 complaints from more than 16 episodes.”

He added, “As every EastEnders viewer will know, this storyline has been running for more than a month with the climax reaching more than eight million viewers.

“This story was never about Jean’s bipolar disorder but about how Michael has manipulated herContinue reading »

We’ll start our look at soapy news today in Coronation Street where Shobna Gulati – who plays Sunita Alahan – has revealed that she’s suspended her Twitter account after online trolls left vile messages of abuse.

The tweets were primarily of a racist nature, and one even threatened, “I’ll always be here to bother you.”

Of the dreadful messages, Shobna told the Sun, “Being racially abused on Twitter really shook me up. It felt like going back in time to the 1970s.

“It put me in mind of a psycho — like a horror movie. I just decided enough was enough.

“I tried to ignore it but it started to affect my confidence.

“Violent, vitriolic hatred gives people their moment in the spotlight. It beggars belief.”

How utterly awful! If you happen to read this Shobna, please go back on Twitter; don’t allow these vile people to drive you away because then they’ve won. For all those vicious ar**holes, there are ten times as many people who are genuinely your fans, and I’m one of them! Continue reading »

Meanwhile, the aforementioned Branning parents are also about to consider marriage to each other once again when Max proposes to his beloved Tan.
